All remaining sailing were canceled on the first trips on route 1 and 2 where sailed and no route 30 trips happened. Has this been the first time that route 30 has all the trips canceled?

Please be advised that the Queen of Coquitlam is currently operating 58 minutes behind schedule due to an unexpected delay in our service today. A frozen berth required the vessel to shift berths in Horseshoe Bay.

How often does a frozen berth happen? I think that is the first time I have seen that.

How often does a frozen berth happen? I think that is the first time I have seen that. This might be the most consecutive days for service interruptions... or close to it. And today, it wasn't their operations- it was an accident on the causeway to Tsawwassen. I don't understand why it takes so long to clear a traffic accident, but I guess I don't understand the forensics. I went out to Tsawwassen Mills today, partly to find a place out of the cold for a walk. I was amused to see a massive backup on the south side of the mall, leading to the highway. I suspect it was people thinking, "aha! we'll cut around the mall, and avoid a half mile of the ferry traffic backup! Nope... not when so many others are thinking the same thing.

yeah, u might be right. this was a terrible wknd for BCFC. still, a lot of things could have been done better i think.
causes: rcmp: do your investigation and for sure take your time to do it right, but let ferry workers, terminal workers, and public transit jump through the single-lane alternating traffic as a PRIORITY!
translink: get your buses to the terminal! its not right that you terminate the only public connection to TSW with a meek 'transit alert'
effects: 1. BCFC says some crew were stuck in gridlock so i assume the reason why some ships were late departing was b/c they didnt have the proper crew complement to sail. 2. TL, demand that your buses be given access especially when the weather gets cold/rainy. ppl rely on you and its not fair to deny them that. 3. on the wknd when the storm was the culprit, many of the shops and food stalls in the marketplace were closed. im not one usually sympathetic to entitlement, but this time i do feel a little bad for them as they were kinda trapped waiting for the weather.

A rarity tonight: a cancellation on the Bowen run, due to wind. The last sailing from Horseshoe Bay is cancelled, with the Bowen Queen just doing the last run from Snug Cove. Given the protected nature of Snug Cove and Horseshoe Bay, I'm wondering what caused this. No other routes are cancelled. Whatever the wind direction, I guess they have to get the vessel back to Horseshoe Bay to disembark the crew and be ready for tomorrow morning.

And almost all the ferries got cancelled this afternoon, save for a a number of smaller routes due to the weather. Not a good week for BC Ferries with this nasty weather.

Guess there's not much mystery as to why Horseshoe Bay is shut down tonight... the EC buoy at Pam Rocks, near Anvil Island, showed gusts of 70 knots, or 130 kmh, at 8pm. Yikes. I'll bet the Bowen Queen is bouncing around in her berth...

The New West is subbing for the Alberni again today. I'm wondering which ship will be used as a relief vessel once the NW is retired. Perhaps keeping one of the original C's around would be a good idea. Thoughts?

Perhaps keeping one of the original C's around would be a good idea. Thoughts? The fifth vessel that BC Ferries is building to replace Queen of Alberni Queen of Cowichan, Queen of Coquitlam and Queen of New Westminster. I take an educated guess because they do need a major vessel that spare and could be use on route 2 as fourth vessel or third vessel on route 30 during peak season.

It's worth noting that they actually adjusted the schedules on both Route 2 & 3.

MV Spirit of Vancouver Island has cancelled her 7 pm sailing from Swartz Bay and 9 pm sailing from Tsawwassen due docking issues at Tsawwassen. MV Spirit of British Columbia will be adding late night sailings, 9 pm sailing from Tsawassen and 11 pm sailing from Swartz Bay. www.bcferries.com/bcfservicenotice?id=7388

Curiosity, anyone know what a docking issue is? Yes... curious as well. Marine Traffic shows four vessels at Tsawwassen. Five berths. Ramp issue or something?

I think it might be something serious because Marine Traffic hasn’t shown the Spirit of Vancouver Island leaving Tsawassen at all compared to other vessels.

Curiosity, anyone know what a docking issue is? It was a hard landing. Damage to the main car deck.

So which deck had the damage?? The photo shows the lower deck but the description says vehicles on the upper deck couldn’t disembark?? A bit confusing unless I am missing something?

It is wrong it's the lower vehicle deck, they had said that all the vehicles slid forward as from the impact
