I'm increasingly convinced that the V2V Empress is sold, or, going back to its owner [presumably in Australia]. It's been at Point Hope for a couple weeks, and although hard to tell what they're doing because I'm not a skilled observer, it sure seems to be a lot of whatever it is. Just seems like a lot of cash is flowing into a boat for a company that's nominally defunct.
I have no objective information to back this feeling up.

V2V Empress made a voyage today. North up Haro Strait almost to Turn Point then returned to Victoria’s inner harbour. 2 rumours surfaced; a post refit trial run after her time in the shipyard, and the other a demo run for a potential buyer. Does anyone know the story?

V2V Empress is back at its usual slip in the Inner Harbour.

Not sure if I missed it, but how come none of you have suggested this be used for that proposed commuter route from Colwood to Esquimalt/ Victoria Inner Harbour?
These catamarans are better for longer length trips, but they are also used for commuter short-runs in Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, HK. It would definitely be too big for current needs, but at $6M, I've seen gov't waste more on stupider toys/projects.

I think there looking a custom vessels for those routes, I think she would be good fit for Downtown Nanaimo to Downtown Victoria route.

I've always said, the problem with the downtown Nanaimo to downtown Victoria route was that firms trying it just never had the right vessel.

It's been a year since I was last here. Nothing has changed. Got the same shot of the V2V last Monday evening. Is this vessel still up for sale or what is the status of the operating company?

They pulled out of the market January of last year, and the vessel is still for sale on the Pacific Boat Brokers site. Still $6 million.

V2V Empress showing as left Victoria Harbor and eastbound along the Victoria shoreline 1225, looks like some sea trials as she heads back from just south east of trial island Attachments:

I've continued to be surprised by the seemingly high level of effort being put into this boat. It's been well tender to at its Inner Harbour dock all year, and the work I mentioned in my presumably incorrect post above. Now it's out sailing for some reason. So curious what's going on?!

Several photos on Facebook of the V2V being loaded onto a shipping vessel. Rumour in the Inner Harbour is it is headed for the Caribbean; this not verified.

If you're interested, I'm tracking the extinct V2V Empress on my website at patbaywebcam.com/v2v.php. This ship is sailing from Victoria BC, through the Panama canal, to Florida, then to ?somewhere? in the Caribbean. Tracking now includes: Full SAT AIS tracking, voyage days, distance, Speed Knots last/max/avg, wind and weather forecast for current position, and whenever possible I include timelapse videos of the ship going through the Panama Canal. As always, if you have suggestions/requests/ideas for changes, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Previously I've tracked the Island Class ships (1,2,3,4,5,6), Salish ships (Orca, Eagle, Raven, and Heron), The Northern Seawolf, the Spirit of BC, and the Spirit of Vancouver. These transits are on the tracking archive page at patbaywebcam.com/tracking_archive.phptak

'sigh'... Is it just me or does anyone else lament this is how the story ends?
I can't help but feel this was (yet another) missed opportunity. I don't have the answer nor the money, but I'm convinced some imagination + out-of-the-box thinking + favourable gov't assistance = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = == = = = = = = = = = = = a perfect re-purposing of a solution for a problem not identified yet
What kills me is that this boat was expensive to build and to deliver here. To watch it simply sail away is such a waste of what could have been (in whatever form that could have been).
