PPA now listing an arrival of 0800 Saturday January 18, subject to mother nature I would think.
EDIT - Revised arrival time for pilot now 2330 Friday January 17, according to PPA.

I hope it gets delayed another day so I can watch it arrive, I'm out of town and really they should have taken my schedule into account.
Sheesh.

Dane, you may miss the arrival, but maybe not the unloading. I received info from Tessa Humphries at BC Ferries today that they "expect them to arrive at Ogden Point this weekend, likely on Saturday" and "the ships will spend several days at Ogden Point while preparations are made to unload and deliver them to Point Hope Maritime"There will be a news release tomorrow, and a second advisory when they know the day and time of the unloading and move to Point Hope. =============================

My brother is actually going on the ship when it arrives at Ogden Point! He’s a welder and they have been assigned to a graveyard shift to get the ferries ready to be offloaded. They will be cutting whatever is holding the ships onboard and getting it ready to be sunk so the ferries can be floated off. Should be interesting.

PPAC has the SUN RISE booked in for a 0600 boarding on the morning of the 18th to Pier B South. Marine Traffic has her arriving by thei calculations at 1530hrs on Friday the 17th at her present speed and course. I see her in near calm seas on Windy.com with a tail breeze coming into the morning. Hopefully she rounds cape flattery in calm sea state and keeps the 8.5kt speed to Victoria.
Pier B south will give a great view at SUN RISE's bow, blocking the view of the new vessels if they end up mourning her bow first. I plan to popping by with my Timmy's for the show.

She is taking it pretty slow she is only doing about 5.7 knots right now. According to the Pacific Pilot Page the pilot is for 12:30am. It seems like she has been in that position by Rocky Point for the last hour. I wonder if she will be able to dock with this wind. It's E30 gusting to 48 at the Harbour so I think it probably pretty windy too at Ogden Point she could be delayed who knows.

Pacific Scout has headed out to meet her, can barely make her out thru my binoculars from the clover point stretch of Dallas rd. She's getting a good push now as winds have jumped.

Tugs have gone back to Ogden point to tie up and Sun Rise has gone to anchor off Royal Roads for the night.

You can probably get a decent view from the Esquimalt Lagoon if you have Binnoculars. It is still ESE 41 gusting to 55 at the Harbour so yeah it's still windy out there which is why she is probably anchored off Royal Roads. She will probably be there till the wind dies down. My brother is suppose to go aboard tonight at 8pm for graveyard shift as they are assigned to get the ships ready for re floating. Hopefully she is in by that time.

Karl also got some great pictures, thanks for sharing!! The new #IslandClass #ferries arriving at #OgdenPoint @vicharbour today! An exciting addition to the fleet about to replace some older vessels; these are the first two of six in class ordered to date. #BCFerries #WestCoastFerries Thanks to forum user Karl for the photos! http://instagram.com/p/B7eZObiFlMj

I think the Island-Class process has now arrived at that special point (no, not Ogden) where the BC general public will suddenly and passionately realize that new ships are here, and that they weren't built in BC.
People all across BC will be reaching into their computer archives to copy/paste the same carefully thought-out comments that they posted in 2008 for Coastal Class, 2009 for Northern Expedition, 2017 for Salish Class and 2018 or 2019 for Northern Sea Wolf (actually, no one cares about the Sea Wolf).
Brace yourselves for the rhetoric rampage...

Brace yourselves for the rhetoric rampage... Listen, Mr Smartypants... I never cut and pasted any of my previous rhetoric to complain about building off shore. On every occasion, I came up with slightly different rhetoric- sometimes at great effort- to make the same points. Just in case someone hadn't heard me the last time, or the time before that. Or the time before that. Us rhetoriticians (is there such a word?) have pride in our craft.
