I am researching the possibility of a baby being born on the Texeda Queen when she was on route 18. This would have been August 5th, 1969. The records don't show anything but I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction to see if we can get him his pass. Thanks

The Texada Queen was not operated by BC Ferries in 1969. Notwithstanding the unlikelihood of getting a pass for something that happened 47 years ago, the 'Queen was with Highways at the time.

I'm not finding anything about a birth aboard Texada Queen in 1969, unfortunately.
Perhaps one of our members may know of a former MoH/BCFC crew member who might be aware of this?

There is a story in the Bannerman book (The ships of British Columbia) of a baby being born on a BC Ferry way back in the day. IIRC, the story does say that a life time pass was issued. Also something about the baby receiving the nick-name "Skipper"?
I am not at home so do not currently have access to that book. The date would have been some time around 1970. But the route/ship would have been something actually operated by BC Ferries at that time. As has been posted above, the Texada Queen & route 18 wee operated by the salt water division of the BC Highways Ministry at that time.
