If I were not aware of the trials and if I were a conspiracy guy, I'd think this was a photoshopped image. That's because of how dissimilar the ships are in their looks. The scale seems off to see them both in the same photo. But what a fabulous photo this is. Thanks for getting it.

It's crazy, even when you see her with your own eyes she looks photoshopped in. I don't know if it's just because she looks so unlike all the other boats we're used to seeing but she really sticks out. (The Eagle with all her red is going to be amazing). And with her height, at a distance from the side she looks absolutely huge. Edit: And inspired by Flugel Horn's photoshop suggestion, click here to see a quick and dirty 3-in-1 merge showing the NIP, Burnaby and Orca in the Westview berth. Not quite all at the exact same angle, but you'll get the idea.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but has anybody else been reminded of the pastel blue scheme from the shade of the 'water' on the decals? Certainly makes me happy!

A few comparisons, the first occasioned by the shot showing the 'Orca and the 'Burnaby... she's about 100' shorter than the 'Burnaby, but only about a metre narrower. She's four metres longer than the Island Sky, but three metres narrower. She's almost identical in length and breadth to the Queen of Tsawwassen, and the 'Sidney.

Here's a few shots the Salish Orca in the dark after her big day at Blubber Bay and Westview. All Photos are © CS16 Photography and may only be used with Permission from the Owner. With all the white LED lighting on the vehicle deck, it was difficult to get a picture where the car deck didn't look like a big blob of white light. At least in this one you can clearly see the vehicle deck. Looks like there are going to be more Orcas on the inside as well as outside. Might be fun to count them all one day. How long until they get covered up, though? I doubt that they will be covering them up any time soon. I don't think these are your old fashioned Spaulding portholes.

Thank You Scott for these pictures. Unless I am wrong and I really do not think I am wrong on this one, Salish Orca is the Largest ship to ever dock in Campbell River Right? Please Correct me if I am wrong. (I am talking about The BC Ferry Dock here and not the Cruise ship berth or the Mill up the road here. She may be now the Largest ship ever to dock at Q-Cove, But is she the Largest ship to use that DOCK at Q-Cove? Trick Question here. Bonus points to who correctly ID the Ex Stena Ship to use that same floating ramp that is now at Q-Cove.

I was a bit baffled by some of the dock tests for the Salish Orca. What on earth was the point of calling at Quathiaski Cove? If BC Ferries was just being nice and showing off the new vessel, I get it, but no Salish class vessel will never be on a ten minute route. And aren't all the new docks standard? Don't they have the same characteristics? The one at Shingle Spit is ridiculously big for any vessel that will ever use it... but standardization is the new mantra.

Or if perhaps a single deck Salish variant design was being pondered, without giftshop/cafeteria... About 90 AEQ... If they fit where all the Powell River class boats go something like that could possibly fill the odd gap between the new 44's and the 145 Salish's... Still 'standard' and probably cheap enough to design assuming that Remontowa doesn't already have one ready to go from their original Salish proposal packages.
