The Eagle has departed Gdansk.
Here's the thread for you to track her voyage, and to guess her arrival date.
After she arrives to FMU Deas, we'll move over to a new "Salish Eagle" forever thread.

Salish Eagle is doing her delivery voyage naked. There are no artwork skins on her. I'm not sure why, but my guess is that they will be installed at FMU (Deas) upon delivery. Perhaps this is to fix up any exterior issues encountered on the voyage, before the wraps go on. Here's a link to photos of her departure, from Jakub in Poland. HERE (on facebook)

I was confused about that too! At first I thought it was a translation issue and it wasn't actually leaving yet but I suppose I was mistaken!

And, just like what the SALISH ORCA did on her delivery voyage, the SALISH EAGLE bypassed Kiel and has rounded the north end of Denmark. It's interesting to note that she is being referred to as a "cargo" vessel on this trip.

I'm going to put my guess in as April 4th for the arrival date of the Eagle. What a nice way it would be to celebrate my last day of classes with the arrival of another lovely new ferry!

The SALISH EAGLE is transiting the Panama Canal today, 03-05-2017, and has passed through the Gatun Locks.
I have one good webcam capture to show, but will wait until midnight to show if anyone else has captured images and wish to post first.

My capture script ran OK so I have all the transit images and will put together a time-lapse video in the next day or so.
Too bad Eagle went through the North lock as it's the most obstructed view of the two.

I wonder if the Salish Eagle is experiencing problems? Or maybe just waiting for anchorage. She might have been doing some post Transatlantic sea trials and testing of her steering gears (after that long straight shot from the Canaries with very minor amounts of course changes). Right now, her bellies must be getting filled with fuel for her trip up the western coastlines of North America to "Maple Leaf" territory. We've seen most of the stoppages at anchor with offshore deliveries of supplies to the recent Canada-bound new ships.

... And, right after the SALISH RAVEN arrives, three northwest ferries will transit this canal in the opposite direction to the Atlantic side. The former WSF EVERGREEN STATE is heading to the Caribbean for a new life. And, the SPIRIT OF BC and SPIRIT OF VI will follow on their way to Poland for renovations. We, trackers of long distance ferry movements, will be kept busy for awhile after the last of these newbuilds arrives in BC!

Looks like the Eagle is on the move now? marinetraffic.com is showing speed of 7.4 knots & destination is now showing Vancouver Island Canada. We all know the final destination will be Deas Dock.

B.C. will have 9 ferries which did the canal. WSF the first? Before people say it, Seaspan built overseas.

B.C. will have 9 ferries which did the canal. WSF the first? Before people say it, Seaspan built overseas. WSF the first? Good question. The OLYMPIC and RHODODENDRON came to Puget Sound via the canal in the 1950s after their Maryland services were over. A couple of steamers or so converted into ferries as well. And, don't forget the Scottish built Princess liners of Canadian Pacific! Some AMH ships as well. And, the former WSF KULSHAN transited the canal in the early 1980s on her way to the east coast to become the GOVERNOR, which continues to operate summer freight service to Martha's Vineyard from Woods Hole and return. The EVERGREEN STATE will be the second former WSF to exit the Pacific for the eastern waters of our continent. Some second handed ships for BCF as well. Have I left any out besides Seaspan? A lot of movement of Pacific Northwest ferries have and will continue to transit the canal at Panama. Just think of the tourists seeing these down there, if they're lucky. Now, back to our regular focus of attention in tracking the SALISH EAGLE ... Don't get seasick, mates!
