I rode her 4 times yesterday .... but the biggest interior difference that was noted was the addition of a bulkhead wall in the passenger cabin that is meant to reduce vibrations onboard the cabin and inside the pilothouses. Can you be a little more specific? I'm not seeing any extra bulkheads that aren't on the Samish. In the time-honored tradition of the Internet: ... pics or it didn't happen.

Barnacle, that's because, "it didn't happen" Actually, I do believe there is a very slight variation between the Tokitae and Samish--well, two, actually: 1) The auto deck ports on the Tokitae have two horizontal bars, a la Evergreen class vs. the Samish's one. 2) The stairwell from the passenger cabin to the shelters on the sun deck appear to have longer walls at the base on the stairwell on the Samish.

Yes Tokitae does have stairwell that stick out past the walls. and Yes she also has to two horizontal bars, like Evergreen class. I however meant the bulkhead wall in the passenger cabin. those are the same.

That seems to be a trend in new construction: uncomfortable bench seats. On the KdT's the Salish and Kennewick bench seat are hard lumpy and uncomfortable. The Chetzemoka's are (or were) much more comfortable. It's probably just finding a low bid and sticking with it.

It's currently on the schedule, however subject to change, but the Suquamish will be operating Anacortes #3 in place of the Samish from April 20 through May 17 as the Kitsap will be unavailable during that time.

The Washington State ferry Suquamish arriving at Clinton, Whidbey Island, USA, today. This was when the other ferry on this route was not in service.
For some reason the sun deck/upper passenger deck isn't open on this ferry?

For some reason the sun deck/upper passenger deck isn't open on this ferry?
Having the sun deck open (and full passenger capacity of 1,500) on the Olympic class vessels requires two extra crew members (an AB and OS). Since they don't need the passenger capacity, WSF saves on crewing by not assigning the extra crew and not opening the sun deck.
If you want to see the sun deck on an Olympic, ride Chimacum while it is on the Seattle/Bremerton run. That route has sufficient crew assigned to open the sun deck.
