I was researching cruise ship evacuation systems, and found that numerous ships either use slides, or chutes to evacuate passengers from upper decks down to life rafts in the water. BC Ferries uses similar systems on some of their larger vessels. After reading these pages it appears the means of getting you safely from an upper deck, down to the raft seems to leave room for improvement. The Youtube shows a person can get hung up in a chute, with more people entering the chute at the top, this could mean people piling up resulting in possible injuries. I post this for the purpose of discussion.
Here are links to a web site that shows some of the issues:

I always have a fear of getting stuck in those things if they had to abandon ship. I'd probably just jump into the water instead of take the risk.

There has been huge improvement in recent years. The ‘chute’ style evacuation systems mentioned in the articles above have been abandoned by BCF in favour of a much safer system which is best described as a ‘covered slide.’ Here are a couple of examples of the LSA system used on many BCF ships today: goo.gl/images/S6h4Djgoo.gl/images/T6K8niI couldn’t find any images of the older style in my 30 second search, but here is a video of it:
