Our next WCFF flagship theme is "Ferries in Winter." Specifically, it will be photographs of ferries with snow shown in the photo. Ferries can be in Alaska, BC or Washington, inland or coastal. Even more specifically, the snow should be prominent enough to be seen as a key part of the photo background. ie. this is so that a photo of the Seabus with just a distant north-shore snowy peak won't be eligible. ------------- You may submit up to three (3) photos. Usual size restrictions apply. For further information, please see our Forum Flagship rules, located here. Nominations will end on Wednesday, February 27th at 6:00 PM PST. Voting will commence at 9:00 PM PST.

So, it appears that I was not the only one braving the cold winds in Horseshoe Bay today. I never did run into Mike H, but it looks like we both got some decent wintry ferry shots. Queen of Capilano outbound from Horseshoe Bay on a brisk winter crossing to Bowen Island - 11 February 2019

A great photograph. If you would like it in the flagship banner contest, it needs to be cropped to banner size. ....all that fine detail is linked in the first post of this thread.

Can't get this into the header format and giving up trying NEXP 2009, Grenville Channel, Saunders Creek area. Conducting shake down cruise and dock trials on the north coast before service. Pic taken from the QPR on her last days on our coast.
That is an excellent photo and would make a very nice addition to the current flagship contest. If the moderators are okay with it, I would be willing to assist you in getting this into the proper format.

It seems HSB is quite prominent this month for mastheads between you, Wettcoast and myself!

I remember when I met Kahloke and Northwesterner on the Evergreen State by accident in June, 2017. I had posted I was going to be there, probably in the Voyager section, but no one responded. Solduc was upset that he wasn't invited, but I beg to differ on that point. Oh well.

I was in North Vancouver on the weekend of February 9 &10, staying with one of my wife's brothers. On the Monday I had free time so I hoped on a bus & headed out to HSB to get some snowy ferry photos. I spent about for about 4 hours there, and had lunch at Trolls during a lull in the action. I hoofed it up to the top of the cliff around about 2:30. Two days later I was aboard the SoBC for a marvellous snowy trip through the Gulf Islands to Victoria. Lots of pics. No trains on this trip though. I was inspired by Mr Horn's theme for the current flagship contest. Have been back in not-so-snowy Kitimat for a week now.

It has been just a bit difficult for me to choose three submissions for the current flagship theme. I have about 15 photos that I could submit, all taken during that wonderful bit of winter that just happened to coincide with me being present on BC's 'south coast'. I have already submitted one photo taken in Horseshoe Bay on February 11th, and another from Active Pass on the 13th. This last submission was taken on the quite dreary, but still snowy, morning of February 15th, in Departure Bay, & features the Queen of Cowichan ...
I have put together an album on Flickr entitled "Ferries in the Snow". To see it, go here.

This one would work.
