I have noticed that over the last two years the life boats on both of the northern vessels have been removed, presumably in favour of life rafts. The NorEx lost her boats during the spring refit of 2019; the NorAd sometime between 2019 & 2020.
Does BCFS have any vessels remaining that still have boats?
Presumably, rafts are better than boats and that is why the boats are gone. Is there any sort of downside to getting rid of them?
Are boats still in use at all on any vessels used by our neighbouring ferry operators (WSF, AMHS)?

I can tell you that all WSF vessels use only fast rescue craft (FRC) in the event of a man overboard or marine rescue situation, and life rafts. We can Marshall the life rafts if necessary with the rescue boats, but I don’t think there have been any vessels in our fleet that have used life boats in the past few decades. I think some of the AMHS vessels might still use life boats, based on photos.
