Island Nagalis appears to have entered service this afternoon with the 15:30 sailing from Blubber Bay. She left the tie-up berth at Quathiaski Cove this morning and proceeded to swap places with the Island Discovery. Unless I've forgotten a trial run she did, that makes the Nagalis the third Island Class to begin revenue service on Route 18.

The K’ulut’a was there for a few weeks also not too long ago

It would be the fourth, wouldn’t it? The K’ulut’a was there for a few weeks also not too long ago Three for sure. Discovery, K’ulut’a, and Nagalis made their debut on Route 18. I think the Aurora served on Route 25 before she did Route 18. All 4 have ran on Route 18, but I was more referring to the “first day of service” for each vessel.

Ah, right - my bad, and now I realize what you meant. Three that have started service on Route 18. I thought you meant how many had served on Route 18, in which case that would be four.

Is that the new tie-up slip / overnight berth at Quathiaski Cove?

Is that the new tie-up slip / overnight berth at Quathiaski Cove? I think it is new, it is next to where the Powell River Queen goes

In anyway this true but not true at same time, because it just as cove begins and not at actual ferry terminal.

Looks like someone forgot their overnight bag. On the app I'm using they struck out and turned back.

The Island Nagalis is once again headed for Discovery Passage this morning. Probably pretty wild out there considering the windstorm last night.

Marine Traffic now shows two Island class at Campbell River/Quadra. It does not indicate that they are both 'in service' but I expect that they are. MT also indicates that the PRQ is heading south, soon to cross paths with the Salish Orca, presumably destined for Deas.

That would have been quite an unusual sight with the PRQ and Orca crossing paths!

As much as I enjoy the theory that I forgot my overnight bag, we did get a change of orders due to us having nowhere to berth with the PRQ mechanical failure (Campbell River is too exposed). It was the right call as having the hobbled PRQ head south in that storm was a bigger risk than sending us back to Buckley Bay.

Island Nagalis, one of six Island class vessels now in BCF fleet, seen here en route from Quadra Island to Campbell River. Viewed from her running mate & twin sister, the I K'ulut'a.
This was the first time I have been aboard any one of the Island class vessels.
Question for those in the know: which vessel is designated 'IC-1'?
I think maybe BCFS could have built something like the Skeena Queen for this route and ended up saving a bunch of money. On the other hand Quadra residents have a much enhanced ferry service over what they had previously.
