So, I did a little digging and couldn't find an open thread regarding this topic. It's been rather hard to miss if you use the hit streaming service Netflix, but the original miniseries Maid (2020) was filmed in British Columbia, primarily Nanaimo apparently. According to my girlfriend, who watched the series, there's a few scenes on board several ferries, and the poster itself has one in it. I can't tell for the life of me because it's a photo taken nearly from her stern, and a little too grainy once blown up. I'm sure one of you could identify her. Is this the most recent appearance in film/TV? Someone ought to go edit the Wikipedia page!

I just came to the same conclusion after further studying the poster and her upper car deck. Unmistakably a Spirit. A little off topic but the Spirits really looked their best in that Expo(? pre coastal, anyway) livery... those lines complimented their figures and really made them stand out from the rest of the fleet. Almost feels like they put extra effort in on that design. The way the lines matched up with the angle of her funnel, and flew off that little wing tip over her Dogwood. I've always made the connection to the Beegees '79 album, "Spirits Having Flown" just for that little unique wingtip. Say, does the wingtip have a purpose or is it there for style?

For the Netflix series of “Maid”, the Quinitsa was specially chartered by the production group for the filming of the show. She was otherwise in layup at Fulford and they used it for a couple of crossings from Fulford to Swartz Bay. There are also brief scenes from onboard the Mayne Queen and Skeena Queen which were captured while they were on the run. There are also scenes within Swartz Bay terminal, referred to as the “ferry station” in the show.
Quinitsa was also chartered during Summer 2020 for the filming of Supergirl as well from what I understand.

The purpose is to prevent a tragedy, but yet not give the ship too much heaven. But seriously, I have no idea. I had this album in vinyl when I was a kid in that era.

Maid was filmed mostly in Victoria is what I have read and been told! Scenes around Victoria on the Pat Bay Highway, a house in Langford and the Walmart parking lot and also Esquimalt Lagoon were all in the series! Swartz Bay was indeed the ferry station. I would assume they had to film that overnight cause in those scenes you see all the chairs in the berth 1 lounge are gone! Berth 2 walkway was used too. Great series I watched the whole thing it’s neat to see local areass used in film!

They're certainly not about to float off to the spirit in the sky (at least not in the conceivable future as of time of writing. Quote me outta context in 20-30 years, I dare ya.)

Shoot To Kill. Great movie. Good final scenes on board Queen of Vancouver. And, RIP Sidney Poitier. He was one of the greats.

Great movie indeed, I think the scene where he sprints through the lounge was pretty cool. I had also seen him in one of his earlier movies, In the Heat of the Night (1967) in like grade 6, well before understanding its cultural significance, and enjoying it. I cannot remember why the teacher had shown it to us. Anyways.
