If the charters are planning on charting the entire voyage of the Voyager, and also her 2 sisters, may I suggest that someone create a new "Fast Cat Charting" thread. That way, the discussion on the actual sale and possible Abu Dhabi issues won't get buried underneath the great charts. Thanks guys. I guess that this request was too difficult to implement, and I'm sure that we'll see more charting & webcam minute-by-minute posting for this ship still, and for the next 2 ships......so here's my moderation moment: - I've set up a new thread for those adaptable non-charting members, to use for anything regarding the new life of the Fast Cats, other than charting & web-cams. That new thread is on this same page (general BC Ferries discussion) Feel free to quote / copy discussion items from this thread to the new thread, as you see fit. Sometimes it's just simpler to find a new place to play, in this case it's the discussion stuff that's getting a new home. The discussion opportunity on this thread is lost by all the charts & web-cams. Ideally, we should have 2 threads, like we did with the Norex.....and so now we have 2. ;D ;D =============== A note to our regular charters, for the future: When you find a thread that you will likely be posting lots of charts / webcams into (such as what happened with this here thread), please please please set up a new thread for charting, right at the start. You can do it ! Thanks & cheers.

Well, as I arrived home this evening, marinetraffic.com still had the SWIFT on their chart as of 1800PDT today, 08-27-2009.
45.5910 -127.8369 SW 11.4 knots
She was a bit shy by a few miles in crossing a line due west of Tillamook, Oregon, and is about 150 miles off shore. They would need a helicopter or a float plane to deliver some fine dairy products from that city's famous employer. That's if they can find her in the fog! ;D

...And, I think we have an LOS from the SWIFT now. Her last transmission was at 2011PDT this evening. We will now look for news sites from Honolulu and check for any news about any visit by the SWIFT and her load there. People there may think that the fast cat ferry service may be returning. They lost their Hawaiian Superferry. This Persian SuperCat is bound for the Middle-East. The SWIFT is on her own now. Have a great voyage to the crew aboard her.

A non-member of this forum has sent the forum a strongly worded email suggesting that some photos in this thread are his, and not the poster's. The person who sent us this email has not specified which photos are his, but he was pretty specific about taking some sort of action against us. Some sloppy, but tough talk. (he just says that someone told him that his photos of the Voyager loading are being used on our forum, but doesn't know which ones, and didn't say. Not a very helpful person.) But regardless of the unprofessional manner that this person used to communicate this allegation to us, we should double-check, to see if he is correct or not: - So I have now reviewed the ship-loading photos on this here thread, and the only members who posted photos that I'm not sure of (just because they are new or infrequent posters) are Plansea and Aza. - So I'm asking these 2 posters to kindly please confirm that these actually are your own photos and that you took them yourselves. If they are not your photos, please remove them from your posts, or tell us which ones they are, so that we can remove them. - If they are indeed your photos, please reply here to say that they are, so that we can tell this person that his allegations are bogus and we can tell him to do his own homework next time. ;D thanks guys!

Are all three Cats gone now? September 1st i'm going out to take some pics of 'em, in their Hometown for the last time. any info, please spit. Sir.. aboard this ship, we do not spit on deck. The story is. Two of the Pacificats are still here, at Pier 94, CFI. The last one (Pacificat Voyager) is most likely approaching Hawaii. You can see 'em from Low Level Road on the North Shore. I wouldn't get too close if there is a gate between you and the Pacificats. There is an access road that goes beside CFI on the east side, but don't know if the access to it is now gated. You can also see 'em from Brighton Park on the Vancouver side, but that's a bit of a distance. There's a few places along Low Level Road you can get a good line of sight. Park your vehicle at the top of the small hill away from the traffic and carefully walk back. thanks! i'll be taking the WCExpress in, so I probably can only get to the lowlevel road viewpoint

Another way of seeing them is by SeaBus. Photo taken by me on August 11, 2009. If you have the time and money, take a harbour sightseeing cruise: www.boatcruises.com/Photo taken by me on August 11, 2009. Ask them if they go by North Vancouver, first.

Wow! The Explorer looks TERRIBLE!.
Me thinks that Vancouver Shipyards is doing the preparation work for the Cats. So I'd guess that the Discovery is next on the list for being transported. Then once the Discovery has left, the Explorer will then be towed from Vancouver Drydock to Vancouver Shipyards.

It's especially sad when you see how the Explorer looked when brand new: I took this photo at her Victoria Open House in 1999.

I agree... I always thought the PacifiCats were really nice looking ships from the outside. They had nice lines... in contrast to the Coastals.

Is it true they had to secure each car to the deck so they weren't jolted around?

Very true. I had the pleasure of driving aboard the upper car deck on Pacificat Discovery in 2000. They did not tie any cars down. But, the loading process did take a very long time, which seems to corroborate the reports I have since heard about lengthy dwell times due to the requirement of loading the vessels in such a way to achieve a proper balance.

A non-member of this forum has sent the forum a strongly worded email suggesting that some photos in this thread are his, and not the poster's. Wow, we responded immediately to that non-member's rude and unprofessional accusation email (with an email reply, and a message in this here thread), and yet we've heard nothing from him since. So, for those who are following along, we can move-on and consider this a nuisance matter that has died. The non-member who made the accusation can simply "get-lost". ;D And "Aza" might just be a "1-post-wonder". Thus ends this episode of photo-gate, 2009-version. Stay tuned for our next episode.....

Someone has posted the majority of the Building of Pacificat 1000 on Youtube. It is seperated into six parts... Does anyone know who produced this video? I am interested in seeing the full film an cannot seem to find it online. Cheers,

I am interested in seeing the full film an cannot seem to find it online. Cheers, Does anybody know which network aired the program? I thought it was Knowledge Network, so I scoured their website hoping to find some sort of archive. No such luck, so I emailed them the following message. To which, I received.... So, does anybody have any idea where this aired? **LATE EDIT** I went through the credits on the youtube video posted above, and discovered it was in fact aired by Knowledge Network. I sent them another email, attaching a screenshot of the video with a shot of the pacificat explorer and their logo in the corner, as well as a link to the youtube clip. Hopefully they will be able to find something for us.

Hmmm I just saw the allegation that some of my "plansea" pictures might not be mine.. I can confirm anything posted under my name is mine, taken by me, with my camera! The original size images are still on hard drive- I can understand with many people taking pictures from the same viewpoint at the same time of the same thing, some misunderstanding might occur. www.pbase.com/portwelland/image/116381220looks like taken with a D50. something is odd. I of course know who took this photo as I told him where and when we were passing. I was in the escorting rescue boat. Just be careful out there, 6 degrees of separation other than this little blip all the coverage has been great. regards K Stapleton

Thanks for posting this, Mr. Stapleton! It feels strange to see a Fastcat running under its own power again. I forgot how quick it was for them to get going. In this video it looked as if when they finished sailing astern, the jets were put full ahead for about 10 seconds, but then put it in reverse again to slow it down because it was going too fast already.
