Not with me. I believe when they send them out though, they do so in a staggered fashion, so it actually takes about an hour and a half to get them out to absolutely everyone, so I might see a bunch of news releases sometime in the next hour or three.

The business-opportunities page on the BCFS webpage is where they show their various requests for proposals for projects that they are tendering.
Currently, they are showing tenders for 3 contracted routes. I'm assuming that this is regarding the regular expiry of an old contract, and the contract renewal process.
- here is the route currently served by Lady Rose Marine Services Inc. using the MV Frances Barkley.
RFP 12-04-2010 ROUTE 59 BARKLEY SOUND MARINE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE
This RFP identifies an opportunity for the successful Proponent to provide passenger and freight marine transportation services between Port Alberni and Bamfield with stops at San Mateo Bay, Kildonan, Uchucklesaht and the east side of Tzartus Island, as required.
This service is known to BC Ferries as Route 59 “Barkley Sound”.
These services include, but are not limited to: vessel provision, operation and maintenance for both passenger and freight service; terminal facilities access, operation and maintenance, as applicable; crew provision; and ticketing (the “Project”).
While the existing service is provided by a single vessel, Proponents could provide alternative options including the use of two separate vessels for the transportation of freight and passengers.
----------
- Dodge Cove is on Digby Island, but this is not the blue airport ferry. Route-54 is a passenger water-taxi service, currently being provided by an eco-tour company called "West Coast Launch".
RFP 12-05-2010 ROUTE 54 DODGE COVE MARINE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE
This RFP identifies an opportunity for the successful Proponent to provide passenger marine transportation services between Prince Rupert and Dodge Cove.
This service is known to BC Ferries as Route 54 “Dodge Cove”.
These services include, but are not limited to: vessel provision, operation and maintenance for passenger service; terminal facilities access, operation and maintenance, as applicable; crew provision; and ticketing (the “Project”).
----------
- Here is the route that is currently served by the MV Centurion VII.
RFP 12-06-2010 ROUTE 55 LASQUETI MARINE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE
This RFP identifies an opportunity for the successful Proponent to provide passenger and freight marine transportation services between French Creek, Vancouver Island and False Bay, Lasqueti Island.
This service is known to BC Ferries as Route 55 “Lasqueti Island”.
These services include, but are not limited to: vessel provision, operation and maintenance for both passenger and light freight service; terminal facilities access, operation and maintenance, as applicable; crew provision; and ticketing (the “Project”).

BCFerries has now updated their web page to reflect the Mill Bay's disappearance: although the ship's profile is still online for the moment, it is now listed on the opening page as 'Retired May 2011', and in the profile itself, the route the ship serves is described as: 'Retired from service May 1, 2011'.

It looks like BCF is making another major upgrade (or at least change) to their website: This is from the bcferries.com home page:
WEBSITE ADVISORY From 6:00 pm Wednesday, May 11th until early Thursday morning, our website will be unavailable while we make some major improvements. You will be able to make a reservation and check Current Conditions until 8:00 pm Wednesday, and again by 6:00 am Thursday morning while we are completing our upgrades. We appreciate your patience during this outage and look forward to introducing you to a new online experience on Thursday.
I just took a look at the new and improved website. I've got to say, I think they did a pretty good job. It's fairly easy to navigate. Most of the functions are aligned across the top in pull-down menus, and grouped in categories that make sense. Good on BCF for re-doing the website. It's definitely an improvement.

The updated reservations site is showing the vessel names on rt2 sailings as "N/A". I hope this is a temporary glitch otherwise I won't be too impressed.
This appears to be the end of the legacy RBI pages. Personally, I really dislike the new reservation pages. The legacy pages were simple and clearly showed what's available and what isn't. The new pages, which I need to activate a new, different account, are all over the place and don't clearly show availability. Thumbs down from me.
I also don't like the double scrolling bars in some of the current conditions pages.

My thoughts exactly...in some ways it seems like a step backwards. However, the names of the rt2 vessels are now displayed instead of "N/A"....but the CC is still showing as being in service on rt1 for the long weekend, with the CR on rt2. But this could simply be because they haven't figured out yet what they're going to do with the CC being out until May 31.
I preferred the legacyy RBI pages too - now it takes 5 times longer to load all the options before finding out about availability. Has anyone had any trouble signing in to their Experience Card on the new site? The page doesn't even load for me.

For me it was the RBI page that wasn't even loading. Other than that, good job on the site. It's much faster than the old one, and easier navigation too
I see the Mill Bay's fleet profile is gone, too.
One thing I found though, is there's a page called 'ferry maps', when what's really there is maps of BCF's service areas (including a new map, kinda neat to check out, shows some AMHS routes too).
Can somebody explain why the RBI is called 'Legacy'?

Because saying 'old' is just too simple. 'Legacy', for a reservation website. Good grief. I thought legacy was a word that applied to people like Terry Fox.
One thing I like about the new website is the traffic stats. From those, we glean that in the last fiscal year, a grand total of 44 cars departed Ocean Falls. No wonder David Hahn considers the central coast a financial sinkhole that BC Ferries would be glad to get rid of.
And the new Klemtu terminal... the one that cost $25 million? 82 cars from Klemtu. All year. Guess that $25 million had just been sittin' around, gathering dust...
