Well we can not argue that. I did not know BC Ferries had simulators. Are we talking full motion or static

The Cumberland Returns in two days following her Major Refit. The Bowen is to replace the Capilano next month.

VICTORIA – BC Ferries’ Queen of Cumberland returns to service on December 16, restoring regular vehicle capacity to the Swartz Bay – Southern Gulf Islands route, following an extensive two-month major refit. Over the past two months, the Queen of Cumberland underwent an extensive mechanical refit and drydocking; a passenger accommodation upgrade; installation of new car deck deluge piping; and upgrades to the sewage system. “We want to thank our Southern Gulf Islands customers for their patience during the refit period, which was conducted during the off-season to try to reduce any impact on our customers,” said Mike Corrigan, BC Ferries Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. The Bowen Queen, which replaced the Queen of Cumberland, will prepare to replace the Queen of Capilano for its refit in January 2011.
www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2010/12/27/bc-ferries-borders-airport.htmlBusy travel day in B.C.Travellers are bracing for long line ups at BC Ferries' terminals and border crossings on Monday. By Monday morning, several sailings from mainland B.C. to Vancouver Island had an average of a one-sailing wait. By about 10:30 a.m. PT, the 11 a.m. sailing from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay was full, while the 12 p.m. sailing was 30 per cent full and the 1 p.m. was nearly half full. There was also a one-sailing wait from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen. The 11 a.m. sailing was full, while the 12 p.m. was more than 80 per cent full and the 1 p.m. was more than half full. The Departure Bay-Horseshoe Bay route was also busy in both directions. From Nanaimo to West Vancouver, the 12:30 p.m. sailing was more than half full. In the other direction, from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay, the 11:30 a.m. sailing was nearly a quarter full and the 12:30 sailing was almost 40 per cent full. Travellers were advised to check the BC Ferries website before departing. Border lineupsMeanwhile, there were also delays at border crossings between Canada and the United States. At the Peace Arch crossing, there was nearly a two-hour wait for travellers heading into the U.S. At the Blaine border crossing, southbound travellers were facing waits of at least an hour. At the Boundary Bay border crossing, travellers heading into Canada were told to expect delays of about 10 minutes. Flight delayedA winter storm hitting Atlantic Canada and the U.S. delayed one flight at Vancouver International Airport on Monday morning. An Air Canada flight to Newark, N.J., was cancelled due to record snowfall on the eastern seaboard area. On Sunday, airports around New York were closed and more than 1,000 flights were grounded. People flying to the U.S. were advised to check their flight status before going to the airport.

The 10:30 from Departure Bay on Christmas Day was probably 80 percent full, and the 3:00 from Horseshoe Bay on Boxing Day was 80 percent full at 2:00 and definitely a sailing wait by the time we left.

re SOVI fire on October 9, 2009, the BCFS Divisional Inquiry Report on the incident was signed-off on December 17, 2010: www.bcferries.com/files/PDFs/SOVI_Fire_-_Final_DI_Reporti.pdf"The tale of the Missing O-Ring" =================== (note: "GY" means "Graveyard shift") Appendix B – Root Cause Analysis The goal of the root cause analysis (“RCA”) is to determine the underlying or effective causes of the failures that led to the incident. The applied RCA methodology is presented in a cause and effect flow chart. (see page 12 of the above-linked report, for this interesting root-cause flowchart.) - here is the most basic root-cause of the fire:

I wonder why they don't use a more recent photo of a ship that's actually in-service for their story, not the Queen of Esquimalt. Even worse, this is one of their badly photoshopped monsters... look at her funnel.

Technically, this isn't an article, but I recently came across this website: thesurrealist.co.uk/slogan It's where you type in a word/words, and it will make a slogan for you. I typed "BC Ferries" and it replied "Beware of Expensive BC Ferries" Each time you type it, a different slogan appears. Ex. "Everything we do is driven by BC Ferries" And: "Easy, breezy, beautiful BC Ferries" Perhaps this is where they got their current slogan "Experience the Difference"

We make BC Ferries better."

Some examples has been the Old Spice Man, where the most successful ones were used on TV. And a few Superbowl ads have been floated on the web for commentary. I learnt in a seminar the other week at Microsoft that there is a service/program that rates comments/authors as to their reliability and influence. Just a reminder that anything you do online is traceable, rate-able and open for interpretation by marketers and even potential employers if their pockets are deep enough.

If you're interested in BC Ferries and the Liberal leadership contest that will decide who our new premier will be, here's an article from Gulf Islands Driftwood that summarizes the four candidates views on the ferry system and subsidization: www.bclocalnews.com/news/116746569.html

Makes me glad that I don't use ALT or Coast Cards. But then, I'm just a footie, most of the time. Unbelievable.
