I'm gonna guess December 6th, considering the fast Atlantic Transit but also accounting for a wait at the Panama Canal and to allow for extra time in case of rough sea conditions while going up the USA Pacific Coast.

P_Keenleyside: December 3. ProudCanuck: December 5. Ship-Rider 16: December 6. --Reiks-Latsaoc--: December 6. Hardy: December 7. I think that the potential for delay comes up as she nears the Eastern seaboard of the US - thems there be hurricane type areas! I imagine that this was taken into account and the CR will be trying to keep out of the path of any of the major storms that are sure to develop between the eastern seaboard and the Caribbean.
The transit of the Canal we know is a 2 day operation at best, depending on traffic volumes - I cannot find any stats or info right now on how "busy" the Panama Canal is.
As for the storms on the Pacific side of things, I guess that they should be a lot less severe than what could potentially happen to her on route to the Panama Canal. I suppose we will have to wait and see how things shake out ....
She sure is making good headway at this point, and my periodic checks seem to have her around 16 kts.

Well, it looks like she is now about mid way between the last sighting of land to the first western sighting of land (Puerto Rico). Even though the captain has the last word in when she arrives, I am choosing December 2 as my prediction. That's the day when my earthly shell saw first light (I won't tell you the year! ;D). Hope the voyage is going well. Right now, it's only the ship, the fish of all sizes in the sea, waves, stars in the night, the moon (when she shines), and three folks orbiting over aboard the International Space Station ALPHA keeping the crew company on the wide open sea of the Atlantic.

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday, who has spent over 20 years in the Coast Guard and Navy, and has sailed up and down the pacific coast as well as into the Caribbean. He was of the opinion that the worst weather she will encounter is on the north west coast of the US as she comes around cape flattery. Apparently, when he was on one of the coast guard cruisers, they couldn't make the turn due to the size of the waves. They had to go all the way up the west coast of the island to cape scott and come down the straight of georgia. This was at the end of November, about 17 years ago.
So I don't think she's through the "storm" yet.

Well the seas must be pretty good because she's steaming along at a decent 16 knots.

This reminds me of the Sonia's, now Northern Adventure, journey norward along the Pacific Coast where she actually met the remnants of one of those damaging wind storms from last year. Here you can see the debris kicked up onto the shore from that same storm - I can remember stepping over many a branch and even limb on the walk from Western Exchange (BC Transit) to Fisgard Lighthouse - just after her arrival at Esquimalt... www.ferrypicsbygraham.fotopic.net/p37933695.htmlHere's the news story - Thanks to Chris - of her arrival:Phillip Campbell, the CH News (now Check News) reporter for the story, who went out in a boat to greet the vessel, had this exchange via marine radio with the crew... "What size swells did you have off of Oregon?" "10m, atleast"

Okay. I'm gonna go with December 5. Partially based upon a careful analysis of the situation at hand (yeah, right) and partially because it's my sister's birthday. Cheap gift! So there. Yeah!

Something wrong with BCF's CR tracking page. The track log has suddenly acquired a wild offset.
Edit: They fixed it.

Well, folks. As I said on page 33 of this thread of the MV COASTAL RENAISSANCE, there is no FSG (or something like one) in the scenery database of MS Flight Sim X. I showed you two screen shots of an aerial viewpoint of the areas CR has sailed to and the approaches to FSG. This has all changed. I purchased a remarkable software called: FS Design Studio. I went right to work on creating an FSG right from scratch using photos and Google Earth as a guide. Several hundred pieces of boxes and tubes of all shapes have been placed so far. The main "Shipbuilder's Cathedral", the centerpiece of this magnificent facility, is almost done. Some more work needs done on that. I am also working from east to west on some detailing of the smaller structures surrounding. The cranes you see are built from scratch, too! This has taken me several weeks to do, so far. I'm doing just the basic buildings of this. I may add that monstrosity with that tall stack whenever I get to that one. In this photo, you'll see my project as placed in the FSX scenery! Very beautiful, to say the least!! A "Coastal-Class" ferry, a separate scenery object, is included. That one will take me quite awhile to complete (I am working from bottom up, one deck at a time). This capture is from aboard a Beaver float plane and is seen in "Virtual Cockpit" mode at flight level 1200 feet. So, with FSG now on my scenery database, I am about to switch planes with a 747-400 and fly from Honn and over the COASTAL RENAISSANCE's routing on her big trip from FSG to BC (landing at the Canaries and Panama en route). More screen shots will be displayed on this forum when I get more done, which will take time. I do plan on releasing this as an "Add-On" scenery download whenever I get this done.
