Its September Fools' Day in Blubber Bay. What?

This is a September tradition on our forum. When a number of our Voyager members get together for our yearly two-day CirclePac trip that occurs every September, all sorts of shenanigans tend to result. During this time, the forum is at its silliest. But don't worry, all will return to normal sometime tomorrow...

Friendly suggestion for those who like to do repeated short posts to only say something like "nice photos". Please don't quote the whole photo string. All you should do is quote the beginning part of the person's post, and then put in your standard "nice photos," wording. - To do this, you quote the whole post, then delete the photos part from your quote. ================== Example of how not to do it: Pictures I took yesterday of the Cathlamet at Seattle and with the Wenatchee: Hope you enjoyed... Nice photo, dude! =============== Example of a better way to do it: Pictures I took yesterday of the Cathlamet at Seattle and with the Wenatchee: Hope you enjoyed... Nice photo, dude! ==================== The difference: - we don't see the same photos over & over again, with just a few words added. Of course, if you have some specific comments about a specific photo, where you need to illustrate your comment with the photo, please quote the photo and show it. This rule is really just for those who are in the continued habit of doing the standard few-words "Good photos" comments and quoting an entire string of photos when doing so. The continued sanity of your fellow members thank you.

Another tip, to save the forums adfree pageviews and our sanity, just make one general post stating that the pictures that x-person posted are nice/great/awesome/sweet/whatever. if one person posts photos of multiple ships in different threads, just comment once in one of the threads rather than in each thread. It still gets your point across just fine.
Like this: Scott, your pictures that you're posting from the Northern trip are outstanding! And just post it once, rather than each time he posts more pictures.

One more suggestion to add: - If a photo or series-of-photos inspires you to post a reply, please elaborate a bit on what you liked about that photo. Niceties such as "Great photos, dude!" are nice (our forum is built upon such courtesies and camaraderie), but we also like to learn. And people's comments and questions about photos are a great way for all of us to learn something. So keep viewing the photos, and let us all know why you liked certain ones, or ask questions about them, so that we can all learn something about them. Cheers!

I love the angles you get with your 11-16mm lens. Your photos really make our ships look good, especially on this last batch you've been posting! The Northern Expedition shots really stand out." Okay, it doesn't need to sound that cheesy, but we get the point. ;D And thank you Scott for allowing me to volunchoose you as my complimentee.

Re yesterday's 1970's photo post by EGFleet on the Queen of Alberni thread. Several people quoted the whole post and we got to see the same photo again & again. Not bad considering that it is a beauty shot of the Alberni from way back when... I too quoted EGF's complete post, but edited it so as to remove the 'handles' around the photo 'url'. You therefore don't see the photo, just a link to it. That seems to work fine in my books. Does anyone know if photos in quoted posts could easily be shown as 'thumbnails'?

Did the forum's header receive another minor graphical upgrade/change over the course of last night? It looks... different.

It looks like the blank space at the top of my screen is taller. I haven't heard about a header change, but these things usually happen in the wee hours of the night.
