So I've been here for a little while now, and I have yet to figure out exactly what the stars under each person's rank symbolizes. Originally, the stars just symbolized the # of posts a member had, so more stars meant more total posts. Then when we added moderators, the moderators received a set # of stars to show that they were the almighty moderators. So now it's a bit more difficult to see what a person's star-cluster means. It's easier to tell from someone's stars that they are Not a moderator. So you have to look at both the star-cluster and the "rank" label just above the stars. Here's a quote from our forum rules, re ranks etc: re the Star clusters, here's a guide: - the # of stars increase from 1 to 4 along with your cumulative # of posts, and the colours of the stars change too, rotating from yellow to green to blue to red and then back again to green, etc. - a 5-star member means that they are a moderator or administrator. so this doesn't indicate # of posts.

What does the Voyager Rank mean with 2 blue stars? I have seen a few members with it but haven't been able to find any info on it.

What does the Voyager Rank mean with 2 blue stars? I have seen a few members with it but haven't been able to find any info on it. See the following... After much discussion, forum staff has decided that group trips and all planning and discussion thereof will be now by invitation only. While this forum continues to provide a place for the public to learn and discuss ferry related topics, we realize that the forum has also helped create a sub-group of people who enjoy getting together for group trips. The group-trip board is set up to accommodate this group of members to ensure a measure of privacy, control and safety for these events. Members who do not have access to group trips must e-mail contactwcff@gmail.com. In your e-mail please provide your name, e-mail address and forum username with the message titled 'Group Trips Request'. Staff will notify you via e-mail regarding the status of your request ( please allow 2 to 5 days for a response). Upon approval you will then be given access to upcoming trips. Note – To maintain security, all individuals that have access to this board must post at least once in a thirty (30) day period. Accounts that are inactive in the group trips board at thirty (30) days (unless without prior approval) will be removed from accessing information on upcoming trips.

I think the Queen of New Westminster topic in the general BC Ferries board should be unlocked, it doesn't make sense to discuss an end-of-life upgrade in the photo section (other than the obvious discussion of photos and changes). It goes against our previous philosophy of often having two threads, e.g. CR in service discussion, CR in service photos.

I agree, I was thinking that when reading and it slipped my mind until now.

This morning I encountered, for the second time, an irritating feature of this forum. I read an item, decided to respond, entered the response, ran it through the spell checker, and then when I hit the "post reply" button I was notified that an error had occurred and I could not post this entry.
My login had expired while I was processing my response and I was not notified of such until I tried to enter my contribution.
I would suggest that any actions being taken while a member is still signed on be completed and THEN the notification be issued.

I would suggest that any actions being taken while a member is still signed on be completed and THEN the notification be issued. I'll make that change right away. ;D oops, sorry, I don't have any control over that, as it's how proboards is set up. My only suggestion is to increase your log-in time (say for 24 hours), or to be double-sure by logging out & in before you start to post. When I'm typing a longer post, I usually take precautions by mouse-highlighting my post-in-progress and doing a "right-click copy", so that my work is temporarily saved on my clipboard. Then, if something crashes, I just go back into the forum website and start a new post and hit "paste" to restore my work.

Do we have any control over the onboard spell checker on this forum? It seems to use US English spellings only, hence it identifies 'harbour' as a mistake and suggests that you use harbor. Personally I usually use the UK versions on spellings. Both UK & US spellings are generally accepted in Canada.
Then there are place names such as 'Nanaimo'. Why can't the Pro Boards spell checker be 'taught' to accept Nanaimo as correct?

As a suggestion for the interim if you use the Mozilla Firefox web browser, it has a built in spell checker that can be taught. It is also an active solution so it will underline your mistakes much like Microsoft Word does.
Cheers,

I use Firefox for specific applications. One being FSG's webcam or any that make use of Active X. However, I find lately that it has been crashing a lot. Unlike many, my IE is always stable and almost never shuts down. I would use Firefox more often if it was more reliable for me.

Here as of late, I've been seeing threads where my post is the most recent, come up as "threads with new posts" again. Is anyone else experiencing this, or did I inadvertently tweak something in my user account?

I have had the same issue, intermittently. Until now, I had thought it was my computer.

;D ask NE how much I've been whining about that too! You have to be more specific which whining you are refering . When NJ and I were chatting the other day about the next orders in the FSG yard, the only way to locate a post was to scroll all the way through Markus' posts manually. Every combination of search was unfruitful.

The searching option is one of, if not the most frustrating thing about this forum. Closely followed by what Barnacle mentioned. I've noticed it happens frequently in the Forum Flagship sub-board.

Is there a way we can have a "Report Post" feature that some other Pro Boards have? Or is that a pay feature? Or..... (insert something else I may not be thinking of).

Is there a way we can have a "Report Post" feature that some other Pro Boards have? Or is that a pay feature? Or..... (insert something else I may not be thinking of). A Report Post feature is not currently integrated into Proboards v4.5. We hope one will be made available once version five makes its debut sometime soon. In most circumstances, problem posts should be dealt with quickly as staff frequently patrol all boards. However, you may PM any staff member if there is a recent post that causes you concern.

Thanks to Dane's suggestion, I have decided to add new coding to the forum for members to report inappropriate posts.
You will now notice Report to Staff in the lower portion of all posts on the forum. Once clicked, this will take you to a private message screen with all the necessary information set out automatically. The only thing you need to do is click Send Personal Message.
