Welcome here, compdude and glad to hear more about you. I myself am a big time map fan and cartographer. I can search for hours any name if I need it (Restoration Point on Bainbridge was one of them), read about geography for hours and if you left me alone in a room with a map you'd probably not see me again after a few days... And my maps... just read about them here! Cool! You're exactly like me as far as maps are concerned.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me!! PS: Mayne I like your dog profile pic. I have a dog too; her name is Mocha and she's a chocolate lab! Thanks. That is my youngest dog Rufus he is a coonhound boxer cross, my other dog (the old man) is a boxer named Bentley. Yes two dogs I am most defiantly a dog person. I love labs I grew up with labs, they have all been golden labs but I love chocolate labs.

Why are some of my post sloppy on some days or weeks? Because I'm stressed and making some errors which I spot then edit them.

Hi AC, While we can all sympathize with stress, your posting style inconsistency has struck a bit of a nerve here. Sometimes, your posts are very coherent and we're able to understand you quite easily. However, more often than not, we have a hard time making sense of what you're trying to say. You mentioned that you go back and edit errors as you find them. I'm afraid I have to disagree on that one, with the majority of your errors being amended by moderators, and being pointed out by other members. Many of your posts we simply cannot understand, and you provide us with little insight. I think I speak for everyone when I say, please, work with us on this one. Understand where we are coming from. Thanks.

Hello all!
First off, I must admit, I have been a lurker here since just about... forever. I wouldn't be able to tell you why I have not signed up sooner. Anyhow, here I am!
A bit about me: My name is Devon, and I absolutely love anything to do with transportation. Even though my first love is Aviation, I have always had a deep love for BC ferries. Recently, that love has become harder to ignore, and it has becomes nearly equal to my all consuming passion for flying.
Ferries I have been on include: Queen of Esquimalt, Queen of Vancouver, Queen of Saanich, Queen of Victoria (even though I can barely remember the experience), Queen of Sidney, Queen of Nanaimo, Queen of New Westminster, Queen of Oak Bay, Queen of Surrey, Queen of Cowichan, Queen of Coquitlam, Queen of Alberni, Spirit of Vancouver Island, Spirit of British Columbia, Coastal Inspiration, and Coastal Renaissance. I could be forgetting one or two, since I made this list off the top of my head. My most traveled route is Route 30.
My favourite ship is the Queen of Esquimalt. Most of the memories that made me become so attached to the ferries in the first place happened aboard this ship. I can remember sailing on her as far back as being four years old. Whether it was relaxing in that ridiculous, yet charming orange cafeteria, or a peaceful night on the deck under a full moon, She just holds such a special place in my heart. Admittedly, I could probably talk about the Queen of Esquimalt for hours.
As for the current fleet, I would say that my favourite ferry is the Queen of Cowichan. The ferry I have traveled on most often is the Queen of Alberni.
I can't really say I have a least favourite ferry, but I admit I am still having trouble getting attached to the "Coastal Class" ferries. But I don't dislike them by any means.
So now that my first post has been made, hopefully this will be a good start to my stopping lurking, and, you know, actually posting.
I look forward to getting to know all of you!
Devon

Devon Hi Devon, and welcome aboard! Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. I think you'll find that many of us, like yourself, are interested in many forms of transportation, including rail, aviation, public transit, and of course ferries. Most of us share your love for the Esquimalt, and the V-class in general. The obnoxious orange cafeteria holds a special place in all of our hearts

Welcome Devon ! Thanks for joining up and telling us a bit about yourself. Since you've been a long-time lurker, I'm sure that you know a fair bit about us regular posters already. But feel free to ask those questions that you've always wondered about.

Thank you for taking the time to welcome me! I think I am good for now, but I shall definitely ask if I need help with anything. And if you share my love for that good old orange cafeteria, then we are going to get along just fine! Devon

Hi everyone.. I've been lurking around here for some time now, so I figure it's time to introduce myself as a fellow ferry nerd lol. Growing up in Powell River the ferries have always been a part or life... Many fond memories of running around the Queen of Sidney as a kid when going to Comox, among other things. Working in sechelt for the past few years I have taken hundreds of trips on the Island Sky (which has ruined me for the Chilliwack lol). I have now been on all the major routes and most of the larger ships at least once. Hope to see them all one day! As a side note, I recently spent a week on the Allure of the Seas (largest cruise ship in the world). I have many pictures if anyone is interested.
Over the last couple of years I have taken a lot of interest in the practical side of the ferry system and have spent hours trying to find information on the engines, fuel consumption, costs etc. I like that sort of thing... Wish I could get some engine room tours! I have somewhat closely followed the movements of the fleet on liveships, and I am always trying to figure out the why of certain movements etc., all of which ultimately led me here!
Looking forward to being a part of this forum, and thanks to everyone who has posted the tons of info and photos.

Hello all, I couldn’t find the introduction area so I guess I’ll introduce myself briefly here. My name is Theo Anderson, I am 18 years old and I am a huge Washington state ferry enthusiast! Hello Theo: After seeing your name and face on our Facebook page for the last few months, it's good to see you over here on our main forum website. Please have fun here, and enjoy all of our ferry discussion & photo pages (even the BC and Alaska stuff). You'll find that there are interestingly similar ferry issues and commonalities, all up & down this west coast. We are "Ferry Fans Without Borders" Welcome aboard.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! Glad to be a part of the community! Woops, I realized I haven't truly given you a welcome, Theo. I'm also a young big ferry fan and I live in Bellevue. Nice to see additional ones here for more fun! Also, isn't that name of yours kind of French? If it is indeed just wanting to let you know that I'm French...
