A week ago my family and I went hiking in the Mt Baker-Snoqualmie NF in order to enjoy the outdoors before going back to the city. I shot only the special shots, such as long-shutter or manual white balance. Some assorted photography from my gander this weekend: These are the flowers that grow naturally every year, across the street from our property in Comox. That's the wooden Singing Sands Road bridge in the background. Little River, Comox by MileagePhoto, on Flickr We decided to venture over to Rebecca Spit Park for some photos of the Tenaka. For another (rainly) Memorial Day weekend we decided to go explore the Kitsap peninsula, camping at Kitsap Memorial State Park. Here are some photos from the trip: Upon arrival, I went to check out the beach. On the way there were some sunset reflection that I wanted to capture, but yet still wanted to have the plants in the foreground visible. So I used my external flash to capture this, which I found is a very strange photo. However. It is the file right from the camera: Kitsap Memorial State Park - UNEDITED by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr Now from the Actual Beach, looking towards Lofall: Kitsap Memorial State Park by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr And north: Kitsap Memorial State Park by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr On Saturday we visited the USS Turner Joy at Bremerton. A hybrid blend of digital and film - Mount Rainier's south flank by Loowit Imaging - Steve Rosenow, Photographer, on Flickr Who says film and digital don't mix? This is a blend of two photos, one taken on film and the other shot on a 4-megapixel digital. The 4-mp digital was shot at the extent of the optical range, and the film exposure was shot on a 35mm SLR using a Konica Hexanon 135mm telephoto lens. As it turns out, both shot at the same output resolution equivalency and were shot at the exact same time, so it made for a seamless blend! Photo taken June 1, 2009 at Mount Rainier, Washington.

As equally as I never tire of looking at Mount St. Helens There's something about that chain of volcanoes up-and-down our west coast that captivates my awe. Maybe it's the way a solitary giant stands tall, commanding attention. You just keep looking up and up and up into the clouds and realize that there's a large mountain up there. But it's also the group of volcanoes that fascinates me, such as how you can see Rainier from St. Helens, and same with Adams. I love those photos that show one volcanoe close by, and another off in the distance; such as a shot of St. Helens, with Adams. I was 12 years old when St. Helens blew up, and we actually had a layer of ash on our fence posts (we are Vancouver Island, quite a ways away). Some day I will make it to Johnson Ridge to see that mountain close-up.

As some of you know, I was in France visiting my family for the past few weeks. Even though I did not have a decent camera with me, I still got some good shots here and there. Les Verderies is the name of one of my Friends place, and I stayed there a few days. This is the sunset the day I arrived, which was just beautiful with the cloud formation: Sunset by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr The clouds were so awesome I had to do a Panorama: Sunset Paorama by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr With some roses: Sunset by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr With the house: Sunset by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr When zoomed in, you see the sun and a Water Tower just across the Valley: Water Tower Sunset by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr Some roses: Rose by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr Rose by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr And finally a panorama of my Grandparents place. They have a pool and a lot of grass fields in which we grandchildren love to play. Grand Beauvais Panorama by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr

It doesn't look like the eagle is on the pipeline; it looks more like he/she is sitting on a log. Also, were you able to get that close to this mighty bird, or did you zoom in quite a bit to get this picture?

I think he's referring to the fact that the eagle was spotted on the Iona Beach jetty, which is built on top of an outfall pipeline.
