Took a trip on Walla Walla yesterday: Bremerton to Seattle and back. Here are some fresh photos of her approaching Bremerton Unloading vehicles and passengers at Bremerton view of Bremerton and the Olympic Mountains from Walla Walla's sun deck

Walla Walla has allegedly run aground in Rich Passage, per a Twitter post. Doesn't bode well for potential service complications. Hoping to learn more later tonight.
Re: Appears to be some sort of steering or power failure and passengers (from photos) have life jackets on.

If I had a nickel for each time the Walla Walla ran aground on Bainbridge Island, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't saying a lot, but it's kinda weird it happened twice. Attachments:

Latest WSF update says passengers need to remain onboard until at least Midnight, when the Captain and Coast Guard believe it will be safe to tow the vessel to Bremerton. What an unfortunate situation, especially with nearly 600 passengers and tons of sports fans.

I am glad that everyone safe, I wonder if Seattle to Bremerton route will be canceled for? Are originally Jumbo Class having similar issues to BC Ferries C-Class?

Correction: 243 passengers on Commander, heading back to Bremerton. Capacity is only 250, so will take at least 3 trips to clear all passengers. All passengers, walk-on AND vehicle drivers/passengers are being taken to Bremerton Car retrieval, per WSF, will be tomorrow morning at 9AM @ Bremerton Terminal. Also appears Bremerton service is expected to resume tomorrow at at 0735. Likely on the Kaleetan (pulled from Bainbridge) but specifics TBD.

Odd she didn't drop anchor as I saw some reports that there were 5 minutes between the blackout and touching bottom. Also curious about why her evacuation systems were deployed when there was no obvious risk of sinking. I'm sure there are explanations but those things stuck out to me.
EDIT: And yes, of course, it is good to see that no one was injured...

WSF is giving out vouchers to the people who were onboard for free ferry travel for a week? I hope that means that people have to claim a voucher within a week, and not that they have to use it in that time. Good grief. How fortunate that the ship lost all navigational ability as it was heading for what looks like a fairly gentle shoreline, and not rocky bluffs. This could have been much worse, but admittedly, I don't know the geography of the route.

This could have been much worse, but admittedly, I don't know the geography of the route. I believe it is just a muddy bottom them; also it was fairly close to low tide, so she didn't end up precariously perched out of the water (as has happened in prior groundings). I'm more curious as to why they didn't drop anchors out in Rich Passage, but we will find out in time I'm sure.

Hope she’s not out of service as long as Tacoma was following her power failure. Bremerton can’t be happy to be down to just the Issaquah. WSF needs to get Chimacum running again or find a way to crew another boat at Bremerton.

WSF needs to get Chimacum running again or find a way to crew another boat at Bremerton. Well technically, Walla Walla was already higher capacity than normal for the route at this time of year, but given the 1-boat service, having the Issaquah solely is not ideal. Doesn't bode well for the addition of a #1 boat in the AM shift 'before summer'.

I'm more curious as to why they didn't drop anchors out in Rich Passage, but we will find out in time I'm sure. Do Super Class ferries even have anchors? Or do any WSF ferries have them? I really don't remember ever seeing an anchor onboard or winch system for one.
