And there, the Wally is in service! I wish ferry cam had video recording, so that I could hear her whistle go TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT TOOOT TOOOT as she enters service again (and send a costumer complaint to WSF if they didn't)! A complementary image:

Took a little drive this afternoon up to Manchester State Park and captured "Big Wally" back in her natural habitat: Normally, I wouldn't include a faraway photo such as this one, as it's not really that good of the ferry, but the sky was so beautiful this afternoon, I felt I needed to include this one showing Walla Walla against a dramatic "skyscape" (Sunday, 14-April-2013) Walla Walla entering Rich Passage en-route to Bremerton (Sunday, 14-April-2013)

(the lower gallery decks were not in use on the 11:10 out of Seattle and I found no match to the red truck in the wing of the photos I have from the arrival of the 13:30

Post 1000!!!!!!!!!!I wanted this post to be my first photos of the Walla Walla back in service. Thanks to the crews at WSF and Vigor she was back in service way earlier than first thought! Oh, and something to add: this is a very photo heavy post as it was both my first ride on the Walla Walla but also one of her first trips when repaired. Enjoy! Here we see the Wally making its way across Elliott bay: MV Walla Walla - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photo, on Flickr 300mm thru shot! Today, I had a chance to grab some more B-roll footage for my Washington State Ferries documentary (I think I'm going to shoot for about two to four hours' worth of that, then move onto interviews, etc), and while doing so, I decided to take photos at the same time. I also met up with a fellow ferry fan and fellow forum member Dan, up at Manette Heights near Illahee State Park. I began my shooting day at Bachmann Park at the foot of Trenton Avenue in downtown Bremerton, and stayed there for about two hours capturing video. I didn't focus on the M.V. Kitsap today on the still photography side of things, and instead focused on the M.V. Walla Walla. M.V. Walla Walla, Washington State Ferries by Loowit Imaging - Steve Rosenow, Photographer, on Flickr The preceding two photos were taken shortly after the 1:45pm departure from Bremerton. Afterwards, I waited for the Kitsap to arrive and then shoot video of it, before heading out. After killing some time and after arranging the meetup with Dan, I headed up to Illahee State Park, where I then drove out to a housing development in Manette Heights, that offers a gorgeous view of Rich Passage, Mount Rainier and the ferry run. I'm looking forward to seeing it. How long is the movie going to be, or do you know yet?

I'm shooting for an hour, as that's the time frame I've got to work with in terms of YouTube allowances. Then again I may break it down into a multi-part documentary with about five or six different half-hour segments. There's sooooo much ground to cover, and so many interviews I'm planning on getting. Not just from Washington State Ferries' personnel, but also from those both in support and in opposition to the ferry system.

LMAO people must be timing their crossings to be on the Walla Walla instead of the Kitsap. They actually are. It has been so long that an Issaquah is there that now it's part of Bremertonian culture. (Well, the Kitsap must've left a few cars at the dock anyways...)

(Well, the Kitsap must've left a few cars at the dock anyways...) And....I bet they all hate the Kitsap and will only ride on the Wally or a Super. I wonder if the ridership on the Kitsap has decreased because everyone's trying to avoid riding on it. Maybe people are just trying to show the Walla Walla some love. They're probably trying to show how grateful they are that she's back in service.

It also was very interesting to see that when the Walla Walla came back in mid April it was in #1 (Kitsap) position, so people were not actually riding on her and she never sailed full to the point where the upper gallery decks were used off-peak. With her as #2 this has changed. I guess the Bremertonians have labeled which sailings are the Kitsap and which are the "big boat" on their schedules (just like me!)

On last friday my family and I were aiming at the 5:35 out of Seattle, but we didn't make it on as the boat was full (yes, Steve you read that right) and were the first car in line for the super crwoded Kitsap. Was the Kitsap just as full as it's always been, or less so? That must have sucked!

Was the Kitsap just as full as it's always been, or less so? That must have sucked! 1. The Kitsap was not full on the 6:45 (it had ~15 more spaces in the main car tunnel, but all gallery decks (including the lower ones) were full. But she must've left 40 or so cars behind on the 4:20, as always... The Walla Walla left only about twenty cars behind, so had the Kaleetan been there instead of the Kitsap it would have left twenty less cars at the dock, which the Walla Walla wouldn't have to pick up. So the Wally would've sailed with a few spaces to spare there. 2. It did. Especially that my father had (nicely) yeilded to it before going in line.

There is a reason why this particular photo of the Wally taken on August 24th from the Goodtime II might be familiar, its because it's my signature MV Walla Walla en-route to Bremerton - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr One of favories angles, especially for Jumbos: MV Walla Walla en-route to Bremerton - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr Arriving in Seattle with the Tacoma - August 25th from the Columbia Tower: MV Walla Walla arriving at Slip 2 and MV Tacoma unloading in Slip 3, Seattle - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr Arriving at Seattle - September 6th: MV Walla Walla arriving at Slip 1, Seattle - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr One of the best photos I took on that crossing: Sun Deck and Bridge, MV Walla Walla - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr Motion Blur in Rich Passage: MV Walla Walla en-route to Bremerton - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr And to finish this post the load.
