So last night at Horseshoe Bay me Scott and Graham were coming off the Surrey from Langdale and Graham was busy taking photos of something in the terminal. Me and Scott walk past the toll booth and this little Asian girl comes running up to the toll booth. She had just got off a transit bus that said HORSESHOE BAY. She runs up to the toll booth and asks the guy what ferry terminal this is, the guy says HORSESHOE BAY. And she says something like, oh my god, I AM AT THE WRONG TERMINAL. I also heard her say, I AM SO EMBARRASED, lol! I thought oh my god, how can you go to the wrong terminal. There are only two in Vancouver, Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay, last time I checked Tsawwassen wasent Horseshoe Bay. Obviously she might not of been from around here. I am just mentioning this cause it just seemed funny to us.
So that was the laugh of the night for us!

I know a ex co-worker of mine had a friend come over to visit her from back east, She was suppossed to take the Tsawwassen to Duke Point Ferry, but ended up at Swartz Bay. My co-worker had to drive all the way to Swartz Bay from North of Qualicum Beach to pick her up.
The Friend obviously never been to the Island before.

I saw Flugel Horn on the Tenaka after Christmas in 2006. He even took time to talk with me, but I forgot to ask for his autograph:)
My in-laws saw Pamela Anderson on the ferry once, but I can't recall seeing anyone very famous myself.

If you're lucky enough, you might run into Bill Good on the Queen of Surrey.

Years ago, my wife was on the Langdale ferry, and saw the actor who played "Jesse" on the TV show "Beachcombers".

In March 2006, I met my former High School Principal, Mrs. Campbell, and her husband Premier Gordon Campbell on the Queen of Surrey. They were coming back from their cabin on the Sunshine Coast.
In April 2006, I also ex Vancouver Canuck Todd Bertuzzi in the waiting room at Horseshoe Bay.
Wouldn't consider this really one a celebrity, but I'll mention it anyway. I saw the wife of Global BC news anchor Chris Gailus, Jane Carrigan, another Global BC news reporter, in the engine room of the Coastal Renaissance last Sunday.

I remember seeing Bruno Gerussi on the Langdale ferry when I was about 5. My mother asked him for an autograph; I would say he didn't handle fans well and leave it at that... I also ran into the band The Pursuit of Happiness on the Queen of Chilliwack once.

I had the pleasure of carrying Cam Wilson of the Joe Trio aboard my ferry last summer. A phenomenal violinist, and a fantastically cool cat. Anyone who says that Canada is lacking it's own distinct musical culture won't after listening to these guys.

I have never noticed a celebrity on the ferries themselves. I have seen actors in Trolls in Horseshoe Bay though. The Canadian actor who was on the CBC Vancouver show Danger Bay Donnelly something and someone who appeared to be his son walked towards the ferry after they had paid their bill. Gloria Reubens, who starred on ER and then took a hiatus from acting to follow her dream of singing backup to Tina Turner, were in line with me at Avis Rent a Car at YVR. Their vehicle was beside mine when we left the garage. An hour later the exact same vehicle (with discrete Avis barcode sticker in the window) was on the ferry although I didn't see them. Mind you a Spirit is rather big. Since I spend most of my time outside somewhere except in the most extreme weather it is nto surprising I haven't seen anyone even if they were on the ferry.
I do however see and notice celebs all the time where-ever I am because I am using intently people watching. My ex-boss' wife used to watch my eyes when we went to LA. If my eyes settled on anyone for more than a second, she would say, "Who is that?" in an excited voice, sometimes a little too loudly hehe. My boss would nudge me sometimes to focus on someone who really wasn't a celeb, just to get her worked up. ;D
*Fenk just noticed your Joe Trio comment. Heard them on Vinyl Cafe and were excellent. They took a song (which one I can't remember) and did a bunch of variations on it. For example, what it would sound like if Mozart wrote it, Beethoven, Debussey, Elvis performed it, etc. It was both hilarious and interesting at the same time.

I guess you can call him a celebrity, but I've always known him as a prick... Tyler Connolly from Theory of a Deadman.
I was heading to Departure Bay and his car was parked infront of my truck on the upper deck. I had known him when we were teenagers from highschool and softball. He was a prick then, but now he is just a dickhead. I said hi to him, and he just blew me off. Later in the newsstand he pushed me out of his way to get a newspaper, looked at about 2 pages and put it back.

I'm of the belief that adults should not be pestering celebrities for autographs, unless it's at an official public appearance such as a book signing session or something like that. Never on their own private time though.

So only Canadian celebrities (mostly local) thus far?
None of a more international stature?

I'm of the belief that adults should not be pestering celebrities for autographs, unless it's at an official public appearance such as a book signing session or something like that. Never on their own private time though. I agree completely. The part of these people's lives that you're entitled to is the part that they offer on the screen, or in the music they make. I've never understood why someone would thrust a piece of paper at a perfect stranger when they're living their private life, and ask them to sign their name. Can't for the life of me see the point.
