Those are great photos! I was looking around there last week trying to figure out how to get a photo of the Doris, never thought to try by boat

Seaspan's Princess Superior seen by me departing Nanaimo at 6:00am on Sunday morning, April 6, 2014. - The Seaspan webpage schedule says that Sunday morning departure is 4:30am, so she was a bit late. She's a bit hard to see in this photo, in the center-left part. The video includes both Princess Superior and then Quinsam:

Princess Superior has been having troubles lately as twice within two weeks she has ended up at Vancouver Shipyards. Good for me as I get a rare chance to see Seaspan Greg at Swartz Bay. Was able to get photos last night and tonight but unfortunately at the time she arrives here the light isn't the greatest. Photo below is from her arrival tonight at about 7:00. Carrier Princess seen by me at Nanaimo on May 10, 2014. She is leaving Nanaimo in late morning, and I am at Bate Point on Newcastle Island. - Bate Point is named for Nanaimo's first mayor, Mark Bate. The small bay next to it on Newcastle is "Mark Bay."

There is a brief cameo appearance of what appears to be the Salt Spring Queen at about 4:10 in that video. Thanks for finding this video, Mr. Horn.

A pair of princesses at Nanaimo harbour, on the evening of May 16, 2014. Grand Princess and Carrier Princess: Here is Seaspan's Carrier Princess departing at 9:05pm. I had been hoping to witness CP's dusk departure sometime this year, and it was nice that it coincided with one of Nanaimo's 2 cruise-ship visits for 2014 (next one is in September - it's bleak) ---------------- Carrier Princess' departure-spin is the quality entertainment that Nanaimo offers visiting cruise-ship passengers. It doesn't get much better than this, unfortunately.

In the July 2014 issue of Western Mariner magazine, there is a list of work boats in BC, by company.
Seaspan's list does not include Seaspan Doris. I'm concluding that she is no longer part of their fleet.

While the Seaspan Greg is still in their fleet list, Seaspan's current schedule does not have her doing any runs... she seems to have been replaced by the Arctic Taglu/Fraser Link combo. With the 'Doris already gone, perhaps this is the end of the connection to F.M. Yorke and Sons on our coast.

With the ' Doris already gone, perhaps this is the end of the connection to F.M. Yorke and Sons on our coast. Seaspan Greg occasionally will do a late night run to Nanaimo, seems like an unscheduled trip, maybe because of heavy traffic? Also, whenever one of the other ships goes for maintenance, she always fills in.

I read this morning that Seaspan is ordering two new trailer ferries, to be built in Turkey. Anybody hear about this?

Anyone hear if these new ferries will have train tracks on them?

Anyone hear if these new ferries will have train tracks on them? I would be very surprised if these were to be built with rail tracks embedded in the decks. Railways on Vancouver Island seem to be just about at the point of being relegated to nothing more than historical artifacts, unfortunately.

Actually, wett coast, if you ever read a newspaper or watched a television news program, you would know the E&N is about to undergo a 25 million dollar upgrade.
The track work is out for bids right now to be awarded at the end of this month.
Also don't forget all the pulp mills receive railcars-even Port Alice.
