Ultimately the 8pm sailing was held until the 730pm sailing cleared. Social Media suggests the QoNW loaded before the CCel, and then just held in dock. was this referencing fri the 22nd? i wasnt watching the departures/arrivals page nor SM, but if Y, this is 100% inaccurate. saying i was there, doesnt constitute proof, but after spotting Dane post about the weirdness of one boat catching another, i made it a point to look out for the CC. when unloading, we could clearly see the CC still in dock2. terminal had just finished loading them before tending to us (QNW) approaching dock1. gates were down, ramps were up; CC was ready to depart but was deliberately held back to allow us to clear. 1. i cant explain why they were still in dock while we were unloading 2. them holding back to allow us to clear... does that make sense considering we were only :20 behind and they were much more?

Why does BC Ferries always tell people to cover their ears in the horn announcements? It seems unnecessarily specific, and no one seems to follow the instructions anyway. They also don't do any announcements at all on the Spirits.

They also don't do any announcements at all on the Spirits. Probably because passengers, and crew for that matter, may be exposed to potentially damaging noise levels. Even a 15 second exposure at 115 dBA in a human ear, especially if exposed repeatedly, could cause permanent loss of hearing. Best to protect your ears so that you can enjoy normal conversation and music when you get older.

Does B.C. Ferries intend to convert the Coastals to LNG or or a dual fuel configuration?
I would assume that the coastals will have the propulsion issue that affects them transiting the Active pass will be corrected when they have heir next refits

When I was younger i used to be scared of going onto the outside decks because of it (this was before they warned you). As for the spirits, I'm guessing its because the one they usually sound is the quiet soft one so it wouldn't be a concern for peoples hearing.

Hi! I'm curious about the 'missing' route numbers. BC Ferries lists routes numbered 1-13, 17-26, 28, and 30. However, 14-16, 27, and 29 are missing. Why is this? The only think I can imagine is that these are these retired routes that aren't sailed anymore? Attachments:

I've never figured them all out; however, the route numbers are a holdover from when Highways Ferries and BC Ferries were more or less "one". And that system has been maintained, obviously. So, one I know off the top of my head is the old Howe Sound/Woodfibre route, which was 14. I've assumed one was the Powell River - Comox via Texada, but that's entirely a guess. Contract routes were / are in the 80s and 90s. The exception to this is 13, which didn't change numbers when it was privatized.

Where is route 54? I don't think there's any more mystery here than in transit bus routes, where a general number is given to a region, and many numbers within a range are unused.

The old central coast (aka Discovery Coast) was numbered '40' when the Queen of Chillawack was in operation. After its death & resurrection it became route '28'.

There's also several route variations with letters on the end.
Route 9a is the designation given to the Route 9 vessel based out of Tsawwassen. At least that's how it was when the Bowen Queen did it, I'm not sure if that's changed since the Salish Class took over. Route 17a is the Little River-Blubber Bay-Westview triangle route. There was also Route 17b (Little River-Saltery Bay) and 17c (Departure Bay-Saltery Bay) when the berths at Little River and Westview were being rebuilt a decade ago.
The Mid-Coast Connector (Bella Coola-Ocean Falls-Shearwater-Bella Bella) was previously referred by crews as Route 10s. (or Route 10a, but I don't know if that was official) I imagine they used that because traffic would transfer between the Nimpkish and the Route 10 vessel at Bella Bella. Now that we have the Northern Sea Wolf and Route 28, the more appropriate Route 28a is used for the Connector route.

wow! i know FOI requests are quite routine now, but if u look at the details of who is requesting and what was the topic, it reveals a lot of other storylines if this information becomes public. wow! thnx for sharing!

I'd suggest 'Strange and silly things observed at BC Ferries', page 4 of the general discussion section.

This is our general thread for all things BCF that do not fit well anywhere else, but would ask you to refrain from posting photos of someone or anything identifiable about a particular person. Just exercise some discretion - thanks.

Hey folks, can you help me identify this ferry? I was sailing today and I noticed a strange BC Ferries ship that I don't recognize. Sorry for the blurry photo, it was the best I could get. Anyways, I am off to Richmond for the day. Cheers.

This one looked like a single ender ship though, isn't the Coastal Lulu a double ender? I don't see either of them very often so excuse my lack of knowledge. Any idea where they store the Queen of Richmond these days?

Otherwise, this is a decent photo of one of the many beautiful coastlines of British Columbia.

this is a direct copy and paste from a comment i just submitted to the corp
//- * * * begin * * * -// 2024-04-29: SWB terminal pm shift. shorter asian girl, ~25-35? eyeglasses, fillipina?
i missed the 1900 boat. i was 2nd car left behind. driver, two back of me went out and had a conversation with the terminal attendant. i assume it was cordial.
2hrs later when cars loading, reserved line goes first. np. impossible to argue that. as it approaches our turn, "beepch" behind, pulls out of our lane to join lane on the left. i noticed. somebody else honked. clear as day what happened. terminal attendant noticed and asked why she did that. incoherent yelling begins. then passenger window rolls down and more yelling. something about "im done with this" ... + finger pointing and hand waiving now. more illogical justification follows (i assume).
terminal attendant directs that lane through and puts the cone right back in front of her entitled suv. she comes to my lane and directs ALL OF US ahead. truly u/f this wasnt a 100% boat, but still... thnx for making karma work!
* before any of this started, in the middle of loading the reserved upstairs, this TA was able to pick out a minivan with an overheight box on top. she walked with the guy to the yellow bar and once failed, re-directed him to join the MCD line.
good catch on that one. great catch on the queue jumper. thank-you for hiring this great TA!
make sure she is aknowledged, please! //- * * * end * * * -//
