I emailed The Flag Shop, the company that made the dogwood flags for BC Ferries back in the day, and they asked me to reply with how many flags I wanted made, and they'd email me a price quote for the flags. So before I reply, I'd like to see if anybody here wants a replica dogwood, full size, identical to the flag in Scott's photo here: Flag pole not included. So if anybody is interested in purchasing dogwood flags, please reply here on or before MONDAY, JULY 9TH. Basically, I'll take the number of people who reply wanting a flag, then I'll add three or four onto the number, in case somebody else wants one in the future. Of course, replying here doesn't mean you're committed to purchase one. If it's too expensive, you can back out after I've gotten the quote.

I already have one, but it wouldn't hurt to have another.

Put me down for one. I'm not backing down from this... Hopefully the price isn't too steep, but I'll pay.
Also I'm guessing once this is confirmed to happen you'll want us to PM you our mailing address?
[edit] Based on the Quote Mr. Viking has posted. I am going to stay at one flag if the quote for 4-10 flags stands as the lowest price.
However, I wouldn't be opposed to having a second flag for safe keeping if the quote is lower for more than 10 flags. If the Quote does go lower and I decide I want 2 flags, I'll edit this post.
Based on the current quote, for a single flag I'll pay a maximum of $200. For 2 flags a maximum of $300. [/edit]

X7 (maybe a second one to give to a friend of mine recently retired who was a quarter the way up the mast at BC Ferries. Any message gone to our friends over at the Ferry Workers website? They might want one too. (the more orders, the probabiblity of less dollar per flag). Well, so far we have fifteen people, including the price-checkers and myself. I'll probably order between five and fifteen extra, depending on the price, for people who want to purchase one in the future who didn't get the opportunity this time around. If you do think you want more than one, PLEASE edit your posts with the number of flags that you would be interested in purchasing, assuming the flags are a fair price. When the time comes, I'll be sending out PMs to everybody who decides that they will purchase flags, asking for mailing addresses. Note that I'll have to charge you shipping on top of the flag cost, so I'll calculate that out. I'm not going to make any profit for myself off this, I'm just acting as a middleman to get the flags to their destinations.

These are going to be expensive.
Before I sent my return mail, I received this:
These are EXACT replicas of what BCF purchased.
I replied mentioning we may have more than ten flags being printed. I'm guessing this could bump our price down to about $150 bucks each assuming we have about fifteen flags printed. I'm willing to pay the price, but at this price, I wouldn't be buying any extra flags. After I receive final numbers from you guys, and hopefully another person or a few 'in', to further reduce our price, I'll reply once more to her and see what her price is, then I'll see if we can have it bumped down ten bucks or so, for the sake of blablabla or whatnot.

Also, if some of you could state the minimum price you'd be willing to pay, I could fly that by her. I do understand that they are running a for-profit business here though, and bargaining may not get us anywhere.

150 bucks?!? I'm still interested in purchasing one. But at $150, I definitely won't be buying more than one flag. Hopefully we can get more people, and bring the price down a bit more.

Oh, well ain't this just great: Darn. I wonder if we could somehow go through BCF itself to do this? Probably not, seeing as they're so anal-retentive about the flags even being made. Sorry, guys.

Geez, that really sucks!
I still think it would be worth it to contact BC Ferries directly. Surely they can understand our cause?

BCFS owns the copyright from BCFC? Sounds really suspicious to me. Does anyone know more about this? I'm not saying that they should be inherently fine to duplicate, it, but rather it seems like the Government should own it - not the sham of a private company BC Ferries is now?? Bizarre.
