I shot this video at the start of a recent road-trip vacation to the rockies. This is leg-1, getting to the mainland. The 6:20am departure on September 7, 2014 gave me some lovely light to capture the Queen of Cowichan as she sat idle for the morning. In the finished product, I like looking into the 'Cowichan as my ferry passes by (C'Renaissance), seeing the yellowish-lit interior of the various decks, offset by the colours of the interior decor. The 2:02 mark also shows a few fellow passengers playing "pass the joint" at 6:20am - I guess they needed some help at that early hour, in order to appreciate the dawn scenery.

Here's My Walkthrough of the Queen of Cowichan. On a mostly empty MD Sailing to Langdale back in June. With this Walkthrough, I have completely caught up to myself so the next one might not be for awhile. I expect my next one to be a vessel that operates in or south of Nanaimo though if that gives you a hint where I'll be filming next.

Here are a couple of very early Q-Cow newspaper clippings from the DOT collection, fresh from my scanner. My apologies for the low quality of these photos; fixing them to modern digital camera quality is beyond my abilities...

Here are a few looks at Q'Cowichan in the early morning on a September 2014 day. Yoga-pose view (no, not really) Seen from C'Renaissance - a nice look inside, with the contrast of the interior lighting and the early morning natural light Squished pano

Does anyone besides Ferryfanyvr have interior photos of the any of the C Class vessels prior to coastalization? I seem to remember seeing some of the Queen of Oak Bay a few years ago, but can't recall whose they were. Thanks!

I noticed an interesting upgrade on the Cowichan as she was pulling back in to Departure Bay after trials. It looks like she has LED navigation lights now.
The port, starboard and mast lights are much brighter than before and the mast lights are very white.
It looks good!

Queen of Cowichan night shot while tied up @ Departure Bay, Nanaimo - 19 December 2015. It has been a semi rough trip on her sister, the Coquitlam, this evening. Georgia Strait has been rougher than Queen Charlotte Sound was this morning. © WCK-JST by Jim Thorne, on Flickr

I noticed the other night that the Coquitlam has them also. I think the Nanaimo was also given a set as well during her 2014 refit. It's good though, since they really do stand out alot more.

According to BCF arrivals/departures the Queen of Cowichan left at 948 on her 830 sailing from Horseshoe Bay and cancelled her 1030 from DB and 1230 from HB. THe Coastal Celebration took over remaining cowichan sailings starting with the 3pm sailing from Departure Bay. I wonder where the renny was..that they couldn't put her into service sooner?

As at 5:36pm C-Celebration is in the middle of a Route-1 sailing, and Renaissance is leaving Horseshoe Bay on a trip to Departure Bay. No Celebration on Departure Bay route today.

And here I was thinking BC Ferries had come to their senses and started offering the buffet on Route 2.
