There is little hope of seeing new vessels in three years if they don't even know at this point what the design of the new vessels will be. Then there are the funding issues. It is probable that nothing will decided until well after May's election. Will the replacements for the Burnaby & the Nanaimo be of the same design; will they be built at or about the same time? Many questions. Does anyone have any idea about what sort of vessel will serve Texada? Many other vessels (e.g. PR class) are equally old & in need of replacement. Has there been any prioritization of needs done? Yes, the Queen of Burnaby and the Queen of Namaiomo replacement vessels will probably be the same design. Hopefully the Queen of Namaiomo replacement vessel is designed for the Southern Gulf Island with a turntable on the car deck. I don't mean to be a negative nancy, but there will be no turntable on the vehicle deck of the future Queen of Nanaimo.

the quartette of the four regular vee class that served the first original BC ferry route for most of the last fifty years, were I believe, far and away the best value for tonnage/cost evaluation! mrdot. This is an interesting can of worms that maybe should not be opened in this particular thread, but I would be interested to see what the cost/tonnage ratio is for each of our vessels in 2012 dollars.

An article from the Powell River Peak Today... Not a whole lot that we haven't heard before, but more of a "Time to Get the Ball Rolling" article. It's good to know that ferries are not pumpkins. "We are the W.C.P.F." - My WCPF user-name would be " The Great Pumpkin" - Let's take a trip on the Gourd Queen - After a hard landing, the ship gets squashed - Deas Dock to be nicknamed "the pumpkin patch" Suddenly the Pumpkin Tart in the buffet becomes relevant. I will not be forgetting my glass slippers while running for the next Queen of Cowichan sailing.

Since every day brings another little discovery about this new format that I dislike, I was wondering if someone could clarify a couple of points for me. It's been said that this whole shmozzle is a 'beta' something or other, which apparently means it is still in its infancy, and has not been, umm, 'perfected'. Did Proboards force all it's forums into this program, or was it optional? And if so, is there any chance of going back to the old one until this one becomes actually worthwhile? I'm not sure, but judging on my own experience running websites and web forums, it's not so easy to undo an update, especially in this case where everyone's now been forced into a ProBoards Global account. The several requests on the ProBoards support forum of undoing the update have been denied, so I doubt it.

Please stop being so antagonistic about trivial matters. Oh, I thought this was place where people could learn about our ferries. Now I do believe! But I do not see any benefits to it. So, why did BC ferries take so long to pearl off the Vancouver 2010 wraps? Cheese: This is a place where people can learn about ferries. One does not have the ability to learn, however, with phrases like "I do not believe you." You should consider being more open to your implication of learning. BC Ferries chose to leave the wraps on likely because they protect the exterior of the vessels.

Early candidate for 2013 forum photo of the year. Wow ! Wow, thank you! Such a positive response, both here and on Flickr, in such a short period of time - I am flattered!

In other news, the mobile app now totally sucks. Most of the features no longer work, including the ability to modify posts and quote other posts (I had to manually type in the wording for the above Awesome Cheese quote). Add into this the disappearance of avatars, flawed Latest Posts section, and the inability for it to load 85% of images posted before the upgrade, it's almost completely lost it's functionality, and DEFINITELY not worth your $2.99.
Don't touch this app with a ten foot pole until they work through this. While I understand the concept of teething issues (we are ferry nerds after all), this is getting old fast, and is pretty frustrating.
If I could quote Jim properly I would, but I can't apparently, so I'll throw this in: he brings up an interesting point regarding the 'fanboy' thing and 'like' button, and I think that has to do with ProBoards appealing to the market of social media dwellers, pushing beyond the horizon of just a nerdy forum. I agree it's a distraction from serious discussion, although I do see why it was done.
One thing I am really missing now is the old 80 most recent posts setup: I found the interface quite excellent, and having it all on one page gave one the ability to pick up where they left off. Now, it's scrolling through page after page, with no clear separation of posts. And when you click on a thread, it seems to send you to either the first or last page, completely at random, without any logical explanation. Frustrating.

You are aware that is significantly lower than the suggested 5 posts per day... 25 posts/month = approx 0.9 posts/day

I dislike view members recent threads. It is really pointless. I disagree. For me, it's one of my most frequent tools to monitor the forum. I use it almost all the time when I visit the forum. I am with Fluge on this one, it's a good tool that I use frequently. In fact, I used it to find this thread and make this post. Awaiting the 'thumbs down' button in Version 6...

Does anybody else use the WCF-Dark skin? I'm finding it really annoying that the text in the blue post is black and the green post is white. White would be preferable in both, I think. Agreed. I would prefer to have the black text changed to white in the blue posts as well. Please and thank you to our moderators working hard on this!

A couple things from the mobile app:
1) When you quote someone, the text in the quote does not appear; and
2) a little less importantly, avatars for people's posts does not appear.
There are some other smaller issues, like longer lag/load times and a longer start time. I assume these issues will be rectified in an up-and-coming app update, as I'm sure this is a ProBoards issue.

Those dates are completely arbitrary, subject to change, and very rarely accurate. We have seen MLU completion up to eight months late.

Your spell check should be in your browser. Both Google Chrome and Firefox have automatic spell checks.

You could say the same about the mystery-white-sauce chicken in the buffet.

Had a look at the Tachek on my morning commute. There are tarps encompassing the entire interior of the wheelhouse, as well fully extending to the edges of the vessel. It appears that upgrades to the wheelhouse are priority numero uno - not a replacement like what we saw with the QQII.
Initial work has begun on the passenger decks, and prep work is taking place on the vehicle deck.

Good morning, and welcome to V5!
I am having some issues with the coding of my signature. Anyone else having these issues?
