So I have been working on more the details of these two and i thought I would put them up together being as how they were sister ships. One of them as everyone knows has had a sad ending. The other well isn't there yet, just might end up like her sister half sunk on a river.. 3969

Lovely old boats, those. What a shame the San Mateo was allowed to escape and die like that.

I wasin't going to say it... ;D We still don't know "why" the other member thought the lights were backwards. But hey, maybe we're playing "taciturn critique"? I really am interested in knowing why he thought the lights were wrong. I'm still thinking it was re mistaking the bow for the stern, and vice-versa.

Just because BC ferries likes to use old boat they can when something is going on such as Expo and Common-wealth games I am sure they will when it comes to the Olympics also. Just imagine if the hull of the Langdale Queen hadn't been cut up??? 9605

You know what would be cool? If you house your drawings on a photo hosting site like Photobucket, Flickr, or some other site, it would be nice if you include a link to your images in your signature area. I love your drawings, and a direct link to see your work would be fabulous!

Oh heck, there's a whole slew of the oddballs...like the Washington and Lincoln, or the old Ballard which some may remember from her stint as the "Four Winds" restaurant on Lake Union...the West Seattle, the Wollochet, Vashonia, old steamers like the Sol Duc, Kulshan and Tacoma, the Indianapolis, all the various stages of the Iroquois....should I go on? ;D

Ok so a few of these are for fun to see what they would look like. And a few are the kind Well duh' area of why people feel left out, so to speak. Then we have the Keystone Port Townsend run and people thought Klickitat was small. 10,100

Very nice! I must say, an Issaquah-Class vessel with bow doors and the required evacuation modifications, does not look pretty. I wonder what the new 144-car ferry would look like with BCF modifications?

Umm ferrynutseattle had done a very good version of the 144 as a BC boat.. I am not sure where i saw it on this forum but i know I did..

Cool... I think the Chelan actually does look pretty good in that style... something like that would be perfect for an intermediate run like Jervis Inlet and looks better than the Island Sky by far. However, if they were run something like an Issaquah class up here on one of the intermediate runs, I wonder if it would really be necessary to enclose the ends with doors, as the Island Sky clearly is not constrained by the same requirement.
The only other thing is, if the Susy-Q was still sailing today, I think it would be likely all those little port-holes along the car deck would be plated over, like they were on the Tsawwassen, especially where you have MES chutes located, since they might still be considered susceptible to flame exploding through. And since, the Susy-Q is a double-ender, it might also be likely she'd end up with more than one zodiac and have them located closer to the bridges for quicker access by the crew.

Heck, why not have the Skagit or Kalama come to our side of the line to provide passenger ferry service between Nanaimo and Vancouver once WSF disposes of them?
