Washington State ships: Chelan: 7 Similar to the Queen of Cowichan. Rhododendron: 7 kind of flat-looking. If you really want to pick a WSF ship that remembles Queen of Cowichan, go with the original Jumbos, Spokane and Walla Walla, the design from which the C-Class originated. IMO, Walla Walla and Spokane are still the best looking ferries in the WSF fleet. You think Rhody's kind of flat looking? I wholeheartedly disagree with you on this one. Rhododendron is a great looking little ship with loads of character and even some interesting design features. Sure, she's old, but I would call Rhododendron "charming". No WSF ferry could ever match the Chippewa in terms of appearance. The steel electrics were pretty unique, and definitely iconic in the way that they almost came to represent the entire concept of what a real ferryboat should look like if your under the age of seven. I do agree from photos that they, and their other two sisters looked very attractive prior to any refits. The current best looking for WSF, i think, are the Issaquahs, Evergreens and Mark II's (except their funnels for some reason). The Rhodo is definitely unique, but not necessarily what you would call attractive. My official ranking of BCFerries is somewhere back in this thead. It has been edited, but the same disclaimer applies that anyone calling the Mill Bay ugly, or the Island Sky nice to look at gets put on a special hit list.

You think Rhody's kind of flat looking? when I say flat-looking, I mean that in size, not in character. If she was a smaller breadth or a higher upper deck, she would probably get an 8 or 9.
