well. right now. there are alot of elderly people taking the lynx (makes sense, they have more disposable income) and alot of tourists. i can say anywhere from 50 - 75% are elderly and tourists.

Some original sketches of the vessel, perhaps?
If they're interested, I could send a couple examples of BC Ferries that I've sketched...

I would get the web site working. This is low cost investment - but it does show what type of buiness you are. Lot's of pages missing - not finished and has been like that a very long time.
Add in the local press releases - as the last one was on the 10th March 2005 - your father was quoted. Again this was not listed on your site - must do better is the report card for this month.
I would also get a lot more pictures on the inside of the vessel - plus offices - a picture is worth a thousand words - and they are very cheap to take - unless you employ Karl and his plane....... make the pictures small and fast loading.

Took my first trip today..... ECXELLENT. Ill do a more detailedblurb later as I'm headed out, but my main to critiques
1) silly signage in Naaimo, took me far too long to find the office on Thursday. 2) Need a heated area fro people in Naiamo.
Other than that it saved me about 2 hours, was fast with friendly staff and a reasonable value at $25. Papers and such were available on baord which was good, and they kept to the schedule exactly.

btw, i was on the 0800 today (I was going home to work on Saturday but I realized the 920 arrival would get me to work in ample time. I'd have to take the 6:30 BCF as opposed t0 0800 HL to get there... that's mostly because of Translink though)

Your getting there - but as they say can do better.
Would get a lot more pictures - different parts of the vessel - so people feel like they know it. Not to tech for the OAP's - seniors - but also not to little -as young kids would really like to see how it works.
What about having a colouring book on book for kids - with drawings of the vessel - showing parts - cut aways ect... like you see on Air planes. Have the very basic tech details.
Do a tie up with the local papers and the winning drawing - the family get a free trip on the Harbourlynx - announce it in the papers - good free PR.

Just had a quick look at your site - to see if you had updated / changed anything since I last looked - last week.
On the Staff Bio's ect.... I really hate to say this - but have a quick look at BCF site and look at the very simple & clean Management team CEO team ect... simple and clean - your site has massive amounts of wasted space - and pictures - keep it small and simple.
The outline of the vessel - that is one that I would increase - so that if you sell seats with a number - then people can quickly know where they are going to sit ect... more pictures - bridge & engine room plus the WC spring to mind.
Doesn't appear to be any sort of specials on trips - partnership tie in's ect - with buiness on either side Van & Nam. Why not?
The Nav around the site is not very quick or clear.
Sorry to be negative - but you asked. You have a very good product / service which is badly needed - but you don't appear to have a clear buiness - marketing stragety with regards to putting bums on seats. Still nothing on your news page - which is one of the best seller.
Your father comments about the current vessel been a 747 where as on the route you need a 737 - is not good possitve PR / Media spin, which was picked up in your local paper - nor is the statement about carring 100,000 passengers - which works out to an average of 47 per trip - so on a vessel with 300 seats - your not getting even 50% cap on it. People can work out these figures very easly - and if you have a down turn - then this type of PR spin could hurt any type of re-financing you may need. The figure 100,000 sounds a lot - but a simple look at the number of trips and the date you started service - and these figures then look very bad.
I would fire the buiness manager. The operational side - you have great time keeping and a very good record - breakdowns ect.... one of the best for your type of buiness. (That is the bit I would play up in my marketing - PR spin - not numbers) You may have notice another comment's about heating in vistors waiting room - key element in any buiness, always look after your customer. We know that BCF doesn't - but they have major control like 99.99% of the traffic - very little other way for people to leave the island with a car - but as foot passengers - then there are other ways.

The Harbourlynx would be neat to take but would be no point for me as I would have to drive all the way up to Naniamo and leave my car. Usually if I go to Naniamo I drive on the ferry.
Only ferry like that I have been on is the Victoria Clipper.
