I have a hard time believing that... BCFS would want to pay the crew for as little time possible, would they not? There must be a logical reason for what they are doing schedule wise. I'm sure the crew is a big part of scheduling, but since they're available 24/7 it wouldn't effect your crossing time. I can conlude that either it's impossible to actually do in 5 hours, or perhaps something like fuel consumption makes it so costly it's not worth it to BCFS. These are big, big money loosers so you want to operate as efficiently as possible.

I've also always had a hard time understanding why they have the schedule they have to Skidegate. What is the point in having the boat sit for so many hours at Skidegate, paying the crew to do...what? The 'Rupert' no doubt can do the run in five hours, but fuel consumption at peak speed would be very costly. I don't know why they don't have the ship always leave Prince Rupert at, say, 8am, and return from Skidegate at 3pm. Must be some good reason.
