Hmm... I might, if I skip a day of school, which is unlikely...
I may fly to Port Hardy on friday night. Grab a hotel (not literally) and get the North in the morning.
It would indeed be fun. I wanted to do this all my life.

No the Prince Rupert leaves from Port Hardy and the North is doing the Northbound cruise from Tsawwassen. I would love to do the Prince Rupert southbound all nighter cruise. Wont see much at night but still might be kind of cool!

I've been on the Prince Rupert before... I wonder if they'll show another movie like on the Inside Passage? Probably not...
Since I thought I would be able to ride on The North, I'll take the one in October. But I'll take this one to: A) Meet some of the residents of this forum; and B) For fun.
My dad will probably tag along, too. He would enjoy it, as he is also a ferry guy.

I am glad to see BCF will do positioning cruises with QPR and doing them northbound for when the ships enter service from Port Hardy. The thing is - why not? If you're BCF, why not make a few bucks on a trip you have to make no matter what?
The thing I don't get is that the schedule pages on the BCF website for the Inside Passage and Queen Charlotte Islands say QON is in service Apr. 1 - May 12. This must not be correct if they're planning to take QON up to Port Hardy on Mar. 3 and bring the QPR down the day after.
Of course this switcheroo is to allow the QPR to go in for its annual refit. It returns to service on the northern routes on May 13 with the 6 p.m. sailing from Port Hardy. The QON isn't supposed to start its non-stop day cruises through the Inside Passage until May 18; does this mean she will simply sit at Bear Cove for five days doing nothing?

I have no idea. I can get never get the Northern Schedules. Too confusing half the time. Call BC Ferries and ask them.

I think that maybe the scheduler's are just building-in some extra days in case the QPR is late getting back from refit. That way if QPR isn't ready by May 13th, Q-North can cover for a few days before the summer schedule begins.
But I may be wrong....

That's mostly likely it. You never know what kind of delays you'll encounter with refits. Didn't the recent refits of the Queen of Nanaimo and Queen of Cumberland both take longer than first expected?

I would do the southbound on the Prince Rupert if it left at 7am like the Fall cruise, but you won't see any scenery leaving at 10pm. What is the point?

Im seriously considering. Looks like the "Bank of Dad" is interested in the trip which would make it free, in which case, I'm in.

Which trip, the northbound on the North or Southbound on the Rupert??? Yeah it would just be interesting seeing I havent been on the Rupert before but even the North cruise going North to Port Hardy you wouldent see much cause most of the scenery would after dark.

Well I have decided I am going on the Prince Rupert cruise. I just booked it so I am confirmed now. It should be an interesting cruise. Even though it's at night it should still be interesting seeing I have never been on the Prince Rupert before.

ah ok, let me know cause I booked it today so I will be on the Prince Rupert cruise too on the 4th and 5th and probably going again in October too. Cause who knows when I will get farther north than Port Hardy. This is a good chance to get on these northern ships.

It looks like the Queen of the North is at Tsawwassen now as I can see something that pretty much looks like her funnel in the corner of the Gulf Islands cam at Tsawwassen. She is scheduled to depart on Friday at 9:30am northbound for Port Hardy. I wonder how full that cruise is??

The Queen of the North docked at Tsawwassen in Berth #2, stern-in. My wife & I did the positioning cruise, and the total trip costs were $650, for ferry fare on the cruise, ferry fare home from Tsawwassen, and 2 nights hotels. We looked on this weekend trip as a bit luxurious for us, price-wise.....and so we treated it as a special trip that we wouldn't necessarily make each year. (but I'll see if I have any travel budget left for this year's trip....because it was sure a nice trip!). Not to nit-pick, but it was the old fashioned berth 1 : community.webshots.com/album/466587113HoHmuHObviously it really dosn't matter, but I thought I'd post the link anyways, for those of you interested. Yeah, I was at Deas today, and was surprised to not see the QotN there. That is good news, however, if the QotN is tied up at Tsawwassen until Friday, as I will be taking route 1 out of TSA tomorow and will be able to get shots of the QotN at TSA from the water.

Someone should try and get out to Tsawwassen on Sunday at 3pm or earlier to get photos of the Queen of Prince Rupert coming in which I will be on. If anyone wants to meet up to get some photos around that time, let me know, I will be at Tsawwassen for like two to three hours depending which ferry I get back to Swartz Bay either the 5 or 6pm
