Hi all who read this, who should like the Quinsam have a refit? Who thinks that Quinsam should have a new look? Have the side lounges stick out? What are those bars there for at the bow and stern of the boat?

You know what if they refitted all the minor vessels in the fleet that won't be retired in the next few years the cost would probably range from 20 million to 30 million then they strech the ships that would need it such as the Quinsam and build new ships to replace existing ones

Harry, BC Ferries is not going to pay for something worthless and won't make any effect. This goes for the Mill Bay route too. If it was up to you, you'd probably want to stretch the Mill dummy so much that it looked like an "S" Class ferry. Harry, why don't you buy the Mill Bay route and ferry. Give it a stretch and add onto the terminals.

What I would like to do is promote it as a tourist vessel for the Buchart Garden and Industrial People, I wouldn't stretch it that far Doug UBell, I would stretch it a little bit so that it carried 30-36 cars instead of 16.
Maybe have 300 hp engines installed
That's what I would do.

I think the bars at each end of the ship are to prevent any too-high vehicles from entering....and this would be so that a too-high vehicle doesn't hit the superstructure in the middle of the ship.
I've always thought that they look pretty strange.

And the Mill Bay is not in perfect condition, she is 49 years old. Her engines may still be running but she is not in "perfect" condition. You should go bid for the route and see how much worthless money you would of put into it. Hey, maybe you can pay a few more million for a stretch that would not even be needed? Add onto the terminals and make them like Tsawwassen. Maybe add a couple of berths for the ships that don't come?

I _didn't_ say that the M.V Mill Bay is being promoted at the Butchart Gardens, I said: ''What I would like to do is promote it as a tourist vessel for the Butchart Garden'' Also, to me the Mill Bay is such a nice vessel, it just seems perfect although not physically so. I am only 12, and not a financial manager yet, just a BCF enthusiast. Also my Dad told me that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

...... I guess that's why I do "sarcasm" well. I wouldn't want to waste my scarce-intellect on higher forms of wit.....
I must ponder, and think to myself: "What would the comic-book-guy on the Simpsons do?"

Harry - you should go back and read some of the other posts about the Mill Bay. The main and only problem you have with the route is the parking / loading of cars. Where are you going to put them? There isn't any space.
The route - even dare I say BCFS - have agreed that - the route could handle a 30 to 50 car vessel - BUT - where are you going to stack - load the cars ?
You don't need to be brain of britain to work this one one. I fully understand your love affair with this vessel & route - but until the parking - loading issue is sorted out - then the route is on it's last leg's.
I have more interest in keeping this route than anyone else..... so things are been looked at now - as we speak....

I don't think so ;D Anyway, DougUBell, I wouldn't make Mill bay or Brentwood Bay look like tsawwassen terminal! I would make it maybe a little bigger so there is parking space when the bigger vessel comes along. All right all right! M.V Mill Bay is not in Perfect condition, but she is still reliable, if they sell her, I hope it is docked somewhere in False Creek so I can see it along with the Aquabuses, let me float along with it through the strait of georgia!

That is going over straight of geogia, not too big for docking in False Creek is it?
If it is, maybe dock it in new westminster, although, it will still have to go through active pass.

ok I am not going to put up a separate thread for this I wish there was a way you could type in and search previous threads. But anyways the Mayne Queen if anyone is wondering is at the Esquimalt Drydock. She is not in the actual drydock she is actually way over on the other side of the drydock closest to the Navy ships right next to some other big ships. I wonder when she will be back in service?
