Can they raise 2 kids in a condo and have a yard for the kids to play in? Call that a foregone luxury. There are public parks for the kids to play in. You call a kids backyard a "Foregone Luxury?" Personally I think a public park just isn't the same as a backyard for a kid. I think it is pretty clear that densification isn't for everyone.

ruddernut, would you rather have your 6 year old kid playing in your backyard while you are cooking dinner? or down the street at the local park while you are cooking dinner?

ruddernut, would you rather have your 6 year old kid playing in your backyard while you are cooking dinner? or down the street at the local park while you are cooking dinner? Is there backyard space for everyone (all 6.5 billion of us)? Call that a foregone luxury. There are public parks for the kids to play in. You call a kids backyard a "Foregone Luxury?" Personally I think a public park just isn't the same as a backyard for a kid. I think it is pretty clear that densification isn't for everyone. But not doing so is environmentally destructive, be it to do with pollution, fuel consumption and destruction of wild lands, not to mention a greater per capita cost of basic infrastructure.

Ruddernut, Please explain because...

The more people live in detached single lot homes, the more overall space will be needed to house the same number of people, the more people will have to drive to go places instead of having effective mass transit serving well packed corridors with adequate ridership, and the more road, wiring, piping, etc. will need to be laid out and maintained to reach a greater spread of people.
Common sense, isn't it?

Before you start saying this kind of stuff thinking it is common sense perhaps you should consider that not everyone can do this. You need to approach these issues with an open mind. These ideas are great in principle, but we can't just shove it down everyone's throats. It just doesn't work for some people.
Does that sound like common sense to you ruddernut?
Anyways back to the issue of Transit on the North Shore...
I have heard that on June 2nd, NVTC operators will be starting their training on the new Novas and the first routes to get them will be the Grouse Mountain routes (232/236) and our cross-town route, the 239.

Aren't the environment and the world's finite resources more important than their personal comfort?

I can see that you are trying very hard to get everyone to agree with your opinions. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that does not mean that everyone is going to agree with you.
For a lot of people you can push and push and push your opinions and try as hard as you can but you just won't change opinions. This kind of pushy-ness does annoy people after a while.
What I am saying is to continue to share your views but try not to force them upon people. It gets annoying after a while

If not to sway your direct opponent, then to sway the audience by pointing out the error of their ways. Your role would be to do the same to counter me. And you tell me to open my mind? If you're just don't care to debate or justify your ways, just say it. Though maybe it might just wake up your conscience to know that wars are fought and people are killed over oil.

"If you're just don't care to debate or justify your ways, just say it."
I find that slanderous considering you have not had crucial evidence to justify your position and keep forcing stuff down our throats that your way is correct. You have pushed the term debate to far to where you are beginning to slander a viewpoint of another member and have become rather rude and forceful. We've been rather patient for you to turn around but apparently that picture has not gotten across shall we say.

That comment was made in reply to me being practically told to shut up and that I'm an annoying prick, and I'm the one to get the warning? If you can counterargue to show me how full of s*** I am, please do. It wouldn't be a debate without it.

And you tell me to open my mind? Being open minded means that I will consider a new idea and think about it. But am I going to believe the new idea or agree with it? Maybe, maybe not. Phrases such as "Isn't that correct?" and "Common Sense, Isn't it?" imply that one is not open-minded. Anyways... This thread has gone way off topic so I am going to lock it now.
