Since she still hasn't passed under the Bridge of the Americas, I figure I can still squeak this in.
March 6th, around 1400.

Can I add a time to my date still?

Yes, as long as the NE is not past the Bridge of the Americas, you can add a time to your guess.

Ok, I will add a time of around 11 AM.

With the passage of the NE under the Bridge of the Americas and her ensuing entry into the Pacific Ocean, this pool is now closed.

Sorry about not updating this pool guys. I was out of town. In fact, I was off the island.
And now, here is the updated final pool:
NewFlyer: February 26th Hardy: February 27th at 1400 (2:00pm) cohocatcher: February 28th at 8:24am NoChangeAtAll: March 1st rt1commuter: March 2nd DENelson83: March 3rd Bryan K: March 3rd at 7:00am Scott: March 4th D'Elete in BC: March 5th ferrynutseattle: March 5th 12 noon Nick: March 6th at 1400 (2:00pm) Canucks: March 6th 11:00am Northern Exploration: March 7th WCK: March 8th P_Keenleyside: March 9th Nickfro: March 10th Mirrlees: March 11th Coastal SKiier: March 12th John H: March 13th Ian: March 14th PCL Driver: March 15th CFG: March 16th ProudCanuck: March 17th

So what is going to happen if a date is chosen that has two people in play. In most cases one is for the whole day ie. March 6, and another is for a specific time, March 6 12pm. You now have a mixed bag. The person picking March 6 chose the whole day. Is there going to be a tie if that is the arrival date? This is getting a bit like the Price is Right beat the other guy by $1 and win otherwise . Since it is going to be a while until the delivery of another ferry (perhaps the Wack replacement that BCFerries wanted to discuss further with the ferry god as it were) this won't come up again for a while. I suggest either everyone chooses a specific time or we stick just stick to dates.

How about those who have chosen just a date be deemed to have chosen the middle of that date. For example, in my case I chose March 8th. So my time would be 12 noon, March 8th. No one else has picked March 8th so it really does not matter, but lets say someone did pick that day at 9:00 am. The winner would be who ever guessed the time closest to the actual time. So if the ship arrives at its destination after 10:30 am March 8th I would WIN.
The winner, if it is me, will receive a splendid prize, that being an all expenses paid round trip for one, maybe two, on the Usk cable ferry. If any one else wins a free trip will be available on your nearest fresh water cable ferry.
BTW, the contest ends when the NorEx gets tied up to the dock at Departure Bay (or other BC destination), right?

The contest ends when she enters Canadian waters for the first time (I think).

Yes, what the guesses are aiming for is the date (and time) that the NE crosses into Canadian waters. I will post the approximate time of her crossing on the delivery thread after it occurs.

Umm, weren't the Coastals done for the date and time that they actually arrive? ie) the time that they are safely tied up in berth?
If I had known this, I would have made a different guess.

No. The arrivals of the Coastals were when they first entered Canadian waters.

OK boys, this is why you need to spell out the rules of the pool at the very start. It should state the following: - When the entry deadline is - Where the finish line is - Who will be the administrator of the pool BTW, in my honest opinion, the pool should have been closed for entries before she left FSG. The way it has been set up, for this and the 3 Coastals is like starting a hockey pool at the beginning of the season and freezing your roster at the allstar break.

In reviewing early entries in this thread there is nothing said about the finish line being the point she enters Canadian waters. I believe that I and most others put in our 'guess' based on when her delivery journey ends, i.e. at Departure Bay or other end point.

Those of who either read or posted estimates for the Coastals were aware of the rules. To change them for this voyage would just not have made any sense. Those who were not aware of the rules for ALL of the previous voyages could have (and probably should have) quickly perused those discussions.

Nicely said, Mr. Keenleyside. We are all enjoying this "final" cruise. Sun tanning on the deck. When we get closer to the northern elements, though, we'll be adding layers to ourselves a bit. That's when she'll hit her typical elements of mild temperatures in the summers and cold and rough winters. She is getting a real workout. It would be very interesting, scientifically, in seeing how her steel construction is reacting due to the temperature change from the cold winter conditions in Germany to the hot conditions in Panama. Time to put the tree house detectives (from the NASA TV SCIENCE FILES) to work on this one! ;D

Unless the captain moves from impulse power to warp 10, you can stick a fork in my guess as it is done .

Unless the captain moves from impulse power to warp 10, you can stick a fork in my guess as it is done . 15/16 knots must be the most economical speed for fuel economy, depending on conditions, because that has been the most consistant speed she has had the whole trip.

Yeah, but her FSG specs put her cruising speed at 20.5 knots. I guess we won't see her true speed on this voyage, remembering that at least one of the Coastals hit 25 knots in various places on their delivery voyages .
