Not too unusual to have showers available at truck stops, so why not on the boats? Truckers tend to live in their rigs because at least down here they get a modest daily rate of pay plus mileage.
That having been said, I can't see where I would be interested in being the one to clean said showers.

Maybe, BC Ferries got suggestions from the truckers about the showers. It does make sense for the truckers----as the two hour trip is usually down time for them. BC Ferries could be thinking ofmaking alot on the showers. LOL

I'm sure the showers can't be any worse than the ones at provincial parks:) Which I never use - I'd rather go for a swim! Having gathered the water samples, and cleaned the showers... I'd take the showers anyday.

yes the showers would be for the longhaul drivers. this is 2 hours of downtime during the driving day for the drivers. these drivers would probably love the showers, coming down the coquihalla it means for a lot of them that it is probably a stop in chilliwack or hope that they do not have to make anymore if the only reason for the stop is to use a shower that they have not had in a day or two. alot of these drivers already use the sailing as a 2 hour nap thus allowing them to make the trip to port hardy in one go instead of having to stop somewhere for a nap anyway.

So, taking into the consideration, that the Alberni is more truck friendly when compared to the other C's, while it operates on the recommended route for truckers to take to/from Nanaimo, would they consider putting these showers on the New West when she goes in for her "MLU" next winter? It would seem kind of silly if they had showers on one vessel. Once word gets out that the Ferries have showers on Route 30, the truckers will expect to have their showers on the Ferry, after travelling from the Interior, and then they'll get on the New West, and realize theres no showers....
