Did any of you receive the September Edition of Life on the Coast? It's a BC Ferries publication---it was in Wednesdays Times-Colonist.

That I don't know. But maybe they are using the profits from the reservation system to put out this 8 page advertisement. I heard what they made in reservations last year, and it was quite a large sum.( about 25M) The money that made for no shows and people who arrived too late for their reservations was about 1 million dollars. (I heard this on the television news a couple of days ago.)

WSF, has a publication called Sound Crossings and is available at the terminals. It comes out every two months and includes advertising to pay for printing fees. They have a PDF form of it here but why does BCF not have an electronic format of their publication?

I can't believe that they didn't use this photo for the covershot, instead of those 2 backpacking ladies...... (maybe Chris was demanding too high a stipend for the photo credit?)

Believe me, HMCS Nanaimo, I had recieved numerous letters from David Hahn regarding that photo. Unfortunatley, we couldn't quite come to a deal, because he was trying to be cheap, by offering only a free soft drink in the cafeteria, but I had decided that a VIP pass into the Seawest Lounge was the bottom line. Oh well, I guess I have too high of expecations.
Heh heh, obviously I'm not that hard nosed. If I was REALLY offered something or anything for that matter, for the one photo of our group, then I would gladly let them have the rights to use that photo for one of their magazines, as would any of you I'm sure. But somehow, I can't ever see there being a time when BCF tries to contact me to use a photo of mine. Photoshopping old photos is cheaper, and is more appealing to the ferry fans.

From left to right, we have: Graham (aka Tsawwassen Terminal), Mike (aka HMCS Nanaimo), Shane, Karl, Dan (aka Political Incorrectness), Scott, Curtis (aka PR Coastal Teen 16), and Doug. We were all standing on the Bow of the North Island Princess, on the evening of the first day of the Circlepac Trip.

Nice pic guys, but even one of those girls would beat you all combined in the looks compartment! Excuse me!!?? I don't see you on America's Next Top Model! Take a look in the mirrior John! As for me, I'd be mentioned as one of the many natural life forms on the Environment Canada nature program on the ferries, right along side Karl's airplane, Mike's sarcasm, Graham's camera, and Chris' boat. So, I'll be listening for "Hammersmark" at the next fashion show.

While I'm on this page, I might as well say 2 things about the actual "Life on the Coast" cover photo, shown above in this thread: 1) I'm surprised that they showed two humans who appear to be conversing or otherwise interacting with each other. A more appropriate photo would be of a solitary person talking on a cell phone, or perhaps a few solitary creatures, each talking on a cell phone while being oblivious of each other. 2) Behind the foreground lady's huge backpack is someone's head. Does this look like Jordan (Coastal Skier)? Bit of curly hair, who knows? And here's the bonus comment on the poster, which officially takes me to the obsession-level of observation: - Does the background lady's hairstyle look like "Hell Boy" with the way her bangs are standing up in the wind? And here's bonus comment #4: Did BC Ferries have to pay a royalty to Michael Jackson for use of the Beatles lyric " It's getting better all the time", as the poster catch-phrase? And would Lennon's pessimistic reply of "It can't get much worse" be applicable to BC Ferries and to Life on the Coast??? www.oldielyrics.com/lyrics/the_beatles/getting_better.html

2) Behind the foreground lady's huge backpack is someone's head. Does this look like Jordan (Coastal Skier)? Bit of curly hair, who knows? It kinda looks like me with my hairstyle from 1 year ago but it probably isn't... but there have been a few times though where I have been mistaken for someone else so I think I have a twin living somewhere in the Vancouver area, and it's not Michael (Coastal Insanity) he looks more like my cousin. btw... there is a "post your picture" thread in the non-ferries section

Now regarding the actual experience of "Life, on the coast", and whether it really is getting better all the time?
I've got to admit, it's getting better. A little better all the time.
What could be better than a there-and-back ferry trip on a rainy windy autumn day? We get that nice diversity of sunny summer sailings, as well as autumn rolling-wave sailings.
(above post influenced by excessive caffeine and general nerdiness).
