Which 3 are they replacing... I thought that when the 3 were originally slated to be replaced, it was before discovery passage. So that would mean that it is the late QoTN, QoPR and Kwuna that would be getting replaced. Or is it the Chilliwack instead?

Hi Gunther - welcome.
I've always assumed that the 3rd vessel for replacement is the Chilliwack.
I know that I've seen some discussion on that subject here before.
Regardless of whether the "new 3 ships" was announced before 1996-97 when Discovery-Coast was launched, I think it's pretty clear that the Chilliwack has only a small remaining useful life for northern service.
ie. warped deck plates, lack of amenities, lack of speed, lack of safe passage thru the stairwells & gangways, etc.
re the Kwuna: I've never considered if she should be replaced. That's a good question....

The Chilliwak is because of Transport Canada's restrictions, the Kwuna was built in the seventies so she does not need to be replaced immediatly where as all the Port Hardy route vessels need to be replaced.
