The Esquimalt ran last Sunday, left DBay at 16:15
Historical Stats are looked at from the previous year to determine whether extra sailings are needed
Upper Management will decide based on historical traffic stats when its time to bring a vessel up to DBay for potential sailings on busy days, they tell the crewing dept. to man the ship with a certian licence (usually a "C"), then the decision is made by the Terminal manager and Tower Operator based on traffic demand at DBay and HSBay, if one or both terminals need the ship, way it goes, its called an MD sailing (Managers Discretion) The company knows it'll sail, the passengers don't until its needed

Thanks for the information... and another question
the crew that then takes to Esqu must obviously be on call at the historically busy periods. Are they paid for this time? Like I know theres certain people that are on call for certain terminals and get paid for virtue of being on call, but would the entire crew benefit from this?
