So easy, and almost free: Walk on Q of Surrey from Horseshoe Bay, then connect with Stormaway III at Langdale. Surrey's fare is less than ten bucks (return); Stormaway is half that. Here's what you get; a tour of Howe Sound, and a couple of island adventures. Stop at New Brighton (Gambier) for lunch. "Tuna Blast" is not for the faint-hearted. A big, fresh baked crusty sub loaded with curry and tuna. Whoo-ee. Only from these guys: [ftp]http://www3.telus.net/cmstp/canis/gamstore.jpg[/ftp] With good planning, you may have had a few hours on quiet Keats Island: A mutt dries, anticipating lunch: Stormaway arrives and we motor on through the best scenery in the world. Bo got his Tuna Blast at the Gambier Store, and guarded the door in case any lonely humans needed a dog to pet. Some did. Gambier philosophy:

Travel on BCF, or hang out by a terminal (here, at Mercury's dock at HB). Babes flock to the black mutt. Sigh. Wish I had thought of this 25 years ago ...

I wonder if my sister's dog could. That big slobby fat English Bulldog. He wreaks and he farts constantly.

Murdy and Cleo are beautiful! FC retrievers, like all the big family of water-lovin' dogs are perfect companions. We've met a few flat-coated retrievers, and many more of their retriever, Lab and Newfie cousins. Friends, I appreciate all breeds, but athletic water dogs are my favourites. Flat coated retrievers are especially good BC coastal dogs. They are very strong, but compact in size. Their energy, good character and durability is unsurpassed. At the larger end of the scale, the noble Newfoundland is a treat to see at work. In Snug Cove two summers ago, we saw a Newf do a demonstration rescue. A girl leapt off the marina float, thrashed in the water and shrieked for help. The Newf's handler had a line ready on the beach. She sent out her Newf, line in mouth. The big dog swam toward the "victim", but dodged around her, catching her in a bight of the rope and towing her safely to shore. Brilliant.

To Karl: Yes, we have two Schipperkes, Bo and Virginia. They are cousins, but Bo is the more outgoing, adventurous mutt. Both are good swimmers but Bo is the long-distance hiker, ferry riding dog.

You guys all have nice dogs! Here's a little bit about my chick magnet dog as well! She was able to do alot of tricks, but barking ones for ex: getting her to say hello, but it would always come out from her as Huhro. But we could persuade her into doing anything without a care in the world. After a day out in the boat she would always come to see what we brought home for her to see. She would even have a chat with the neighbors cat! This is a pic we took a few months ago of her with a goofy smile. But tragically when we were on our vacation in America, (the day after we left) our neighbors took her for a walk down the street to go for a swim, and when they started to go back, she went in a pool of dirty water. So the neighbors dog chased her out of the dirty water and by that time they were across the street from my house and she got excited and ran across the road. Of course she didn't look both ways, but a car came down the street at a ridiculous rate and she ran in to the side of it. The neighbors said she seemed stunned at first because she was speed walking to the front lawn, then she layed down and that was it. The neighborhood was standing around watching to see what was going on and went to my front lawn. A week later we barried her in our backyard with some of her favorite toys with the same neighborhood of people watching to give us support. I didn't mean for this to be sad story, but just giving a note to never let your dog run around a busy street!

Such an awesome dog it sounds like. I don't what I'd do if I lost my Cleo or my Murdy.

Sorry to hear that. I guess I better be prepared for my dog to die...hes a 13 year old Shepard (that's old). Had him since 1992 I think, before I can remember. He's pretty healthy though so his heart might beat for a year or two more...hopefully.

Chris, I am so sorry.
Hannah was a beauty. I can see her joy and character in those photos.
You can never replace her, but I hope you'll start another puppy on a happy life like Hannah's when you're ready.
Condolences, pal.

Thanks for the sympathy guys! I really do appreciate it. I'll probably wait till after I get out of school and have a good job and house when I'm older till I consider getting another dog. My parents don't want another dog, but they've had lots of pets over the years and when they died they were of course upset about it, but when we found out Hannah had died, they were really upset because Hannah was such a good friend to have tag along with us. Well its nothing but memories of her around my house now with pictures and videos of her to keep forever. I'm really glad I said goodbye to her the day we left which was one day before she died as we were leaving on our trip because I knew something wasn't right about us leaving..no lie. But she is safe in our backyard now in the ground under her favorite spot to lay in the grass.
