Royal Caribbean because they have so much money and could buy a lot of brand new ships and rebuild old ships and terminals.
Ha I bet I gave everyone a heart attack with the name of the post.

The gov't. To hell with a cruise ship operator buying them...them having them a lot of money doesn't mean they're smart and know how to run a ferry business...the cruise ship industry is not nearly as essential as a ferry's. What if a cruise ship breaks down? OH well I guess we get the next one or however that business works. What if a ferry is late? Raging travelers.... What if cruise ships went on strike? Absolutely nothing. There might be the odd whiner but nothing big. What if ferries go on strike? More raging travelers PLUS supplies wherever that ferry is serving is now limited.

why put them with the government? i see the better maintenence and lower fairs but the problem is that with the government you don't get the service upgrades

The ships are better maintained now that BCF is private, and not government run.

If BC Ferries was still in government hands minus the fast cats, we might be seeing some progress.

It was the same with repairs, but the government didn't invest enough money to maintain the ships properly. In 1996, all the V's were supposed to undergo the same refit as the Saanich and the Cowichan, but it didn't get done to the Vancouver, Victoria, or Esquimalt.

Exactly and more Cumberland Class. they really should have maintained the V Class if that project had gone underway the Victoria might of been around as long (or longer) as (or than) the Sidney. Plus the Coquitlam was in the middle of her Mid Life when BCF became private so the the rest of the C Class could of been done if BCF was still private. As for the name I was like in my head...Wha!!!!

The NDP will not make mistakes as long as they stay out of power and only as the opposition.
