I just watched the new BC Ferries video. You can check it out online on the BC Ferries website. It's only 5 mins long but it's kind of neat!

I like how it says, "We are the new BC Ferries and this is our story" and that video has quite alot of scenes with the ferries but the pictures are all digital and blurry but its still pretty cool.

The video's great it has some photos from when BCF started lots of ferries intros to new parts of the service and all that jazz. The parade float is just a S-Class ive never seen it live but it looks nice they never did that in the gov't runned company they're alot better as a private runned company

I just watched and it's great. I have noticed that alot of major corporations in this province are making corporate videos. I work at Grouse Mountain, and they have a video similar to BC ferries video. They cover history and why it is so great.

Yeah. and if you've ever been to the theme park in gas town. they have a movie at the end that includes the Ferries. I think that the ferries are doing great. and i hope for them to have all the luck in the future. i knoticed one thing though. do the spirits always have that sized bow wake when shes @ running speed? it looked like if it was to go 1 foot higher it would lap the lower car deck. i didn;t knoticed the smaller K class boats, or the NIP and Teneka etc...only the nice repainted vessels

That is a dandy video. It is much like an "investor-relations" production, but since all British Columbians are the investors, why not?
The emphasis on people is especially good; and the boats look great in all their shots.
Nice job.

A PS to the above:
I'm getting used to the two-wave BCF logo. It is sharp, contemporary and easy to recognize at a distance. I know this was kicked around in a much earlier thread, but I needed time to get used to it.
I am sure this will last for many decades.

decades? i give it maybe 10 years. IF your lucky i wish they would have shown more of the smaller boats.

Yeah I think you're right; it's too trendy for long-term.

i have a feeling this isn't the last we've seen of the dogwood

Yup, I love the dogwood just fine, though I never liked the mid-green field it was displayed on.
BCF's blue-white scheme is a good choice. I especially like that they have used just the double wave as a house flag.
"House flags" to pontificate for a bit, date back to Hanseatic times. A house flag is like a national ensign .. it identifies a ship as a civilian merchant, non-combatant, and also shows pride of ownership.
Early house flags were gaudy coats-of-arms from noble families. In Victorian times, house flags became simpler pennants, easily seen by telescope, because an arriving ship meant goods coming in; often before competitors.
P&O (diagonal red-white-yellow-blue) still has one of the best; Canadian Pacific is my fave (a red-white checker); on our coast, the fishboats fly red-white-red for Canfisco, green-white-orange for BC Packers, and blue-over-white for Ocean Fisheries.
Though no-one's going to mistake a BC Ferry for an errant Korean trawler; our new blue-white house flag is a fine part of the tradition.

would you be suprised to know that Harbourlynx does not fly a house flag yet? they only have enough space to fly 2, (BC and Canada) and they dont seem to have a distinctive color scheme. but who would mistake her for a BC ferry or fishing trawler?

Not bc ferries, but does anybody know royal caribbean cruise line's house flag. I thought it was a blue anchor crest(their emblem) on a white background but i am not sure.

Those are neat little videos. I especially thought it was pretty neat how they did the simulator of the super c's going through active pass. That was neat to see.

I just checked that new video. Here are 2 picky errors that will bug the true-mariners:
1) it refers to "Kitchens" on board. Should be "galley".
2) if refers to the fleet as "boats". Sorry, a "boat" is something that can be hoisted on to a ship. The BC Fleet is definately "ships", not boats.

It seems strange seeing the V-Class in the Dogwood colours again, almost seems like they never changed with that video

One of the shots from the "Other BC Ferry Videos" is what was used in today's Times Collonist and Vancouver Sun to show two Super Cs passing in Active Pass.
Sharp ships!

I just realised that the blue prints are clear in the first BCFerries_1 video that was posted earlier, plus with today's colour photo's in the Times Collonist we can drule over these new ships. Time to analyze the videos for the next 5 days
