Stinking Queen of Yesterday, that was halarious, did anyone just see the Global news report on the ferry situation?? There was this irate customer was going on on at Swartz Bay, I am going to go home and to hell with BC Ferries, and that piece of junk sitting there, refering to the SOVI I think then that stinking Queen of Yesterday, dont know which Queen he was refering to. BC Ferries and their crap ferries he was going on and on. I just laughed at the guy, it was funny.
Also some customers at Swartz Bay were annoyed cause of the work that is being done at the terminal and noise from the Jackhammers, or drilling they were doing. It wasent bad at Tsawwassen but Swartz Bay was kind of exciting today I bet. Meanwhile no waits in Naniamo as a few decided to go to Naniamo instead. I think that is probably what I would done if I had to.

I can't stand Irate customers. They seem to find any reason to put employees down or just annoy them.
This way off topic but One time at Ski Wee We had an Irate Parent come in to the Ski Wee Hut during our lunch break just to rant about transport operations and how unprofessional our supervisor was. Those are the people that piss me off.

Was listening to the radio today and the girl was saying "the Queen of...Van...East Vancouver" until someone yelled out Spirit of Vancouver Island. "Queen of East Vancouver" is a LITTLE off.

(a little off topic, but related) I was in line for a ticket to catch the 7am sailing from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay today, and from behind me comes Ron Benze <spelling?>, a reporter for Global TV, and a camera man aiming his lense right at my face. They moved on fairly quickly, but I was the only one in the line that they interviewed... I hope it didn't get on TV Anyway, I got some pictures of V-Class passing V-Class in Active Pass (such a rare thing now) and also of the SOVI in berth 2 at Swartz Bay, with a dingy being lowered over the side. Sorry for the delay in getting new pictures onto my site, but I only have so much time. My next site update will include shots of Deas with SOBC, Q of Burnaby, Q of the North and Klitsa; I'll also add a handfull of other different shots, including of Tsawwassen terminal. Will post here when I'm done. Oh, and one more thing... I've found some decent photos of the upper deck restaurant of the Saanich, and as requested I will post them too.

Mistake mistakes mistakes. the Queen of Victoria out of service the Spirt of Vancouver just 20 minutes ago I was reading the local saturday paper and there was a section called Strait Talk they talk about the Ferries and I found another media mistake the Queen of Burnaby built in 1964 does the media know anything about the ferries information probably not

Our media (US) blabs to much. Your media makes mistakes. Which is worse?

Speaking of reporters mis-informing the public, it has just happened yet again. On CITY TV, after the story about the ferry delays, the anchor stated that the half price discounts are only available on route 1.
I'm not complaining; actually this might thin the crowds on route 2 and 30 (that also have the discount).

If I can add to the above comments about media interest - TV & Radio ect. I think that the UK news / media is a lot better - not so much "In your Face" like the America stuff. We also have CNN - but a english ver. A lot easier to watch - they (American ver) seem to me to repeat everything - over and over - every 5 seconds - the more blood the better - the more in your face interview the better the ratings I guess.
Moving on - What was the old saying - "The customer is always right"? I am sure times have changed - and this expression is very much out dated.
So what are they teaching you in school these days about marketing and customer care? Any new logo's or expression?

re "So what are they teaching you in school these days about marketing and customer care? Any new logo's or expression"
I've heard this: "someone's perception is their reality". This means that how someone sees a situation is relevant, even if they see it wrong. Their wrong-perception is reality to them, and so it must be respected.

For example: up until the late 1500s, to many people, the world WAS flat.

Haha, last night I saw the Irate customer Karl was talking about on BCTV News at 11. That guy was choked. He sure looked like he was really wanting to say other words than what he was saying...instead of the Queen of Yesterday..

OK Flugel Horn -
I like that - but what then is the latest spin coming out from BCF on "Customer care"
Have they come up with anything new - or is it just the old stuff - only re-fried - re-hashed / full on media spin ?

Cascade:
I see the CEO of BC Ferries talking about the "customer" as the major focus of the company. Since it is private, it has to think of the customer morese than they had to as a Crown Corporation.
Not that customer care wasn't a focus before, but now they are puting "taking care for customer" language front¢re in their media comments.
I agree that a private company definately has to be customer focused, or the customer will go somewhere else. That works fine for a grocery store, but I don't know how relevant that is to BC Ferries, which is still somewhat of a monopoly....at least for car-ferries.
Maybe that will change....

They only care about the customer on the surface! Cancelled sailings, breakdowns, and re-deployment of vessels only show disregard for the customer. Ask most regulars of rte 1 if they feel they are better off. ask the truckers on rte 30 if they feel they are better off.

I agree, notmuchlonger, those sales are only tokens, to distract from the fact that the government sold a significant part of our *public* transportation system in this province.
There are laws in place to protect Translink, for example, from privatization. Why, then, was a far more essential mode of *public* transportation allowed to be sold?

I guess in marketing terms the sales - discounts are called "loss leaders" to get people to come to the site - book hol's & trips and see - or read what a great company this "New" BCF is - listen and read "Our" spin.
Real problem is lack of choice.
That one route here - Dover to Calais. There 6 different companies offering there services - and a range of opitions - and budgets to suit. The vessels are all new - well 10 to 15 years old- and well equipt - better finished inside than some BCF vessels - I guess the customer requires - demands it. If not then they walk - take there buiness to the other players.
So the quesation is what can happen on the Coast ? How can the service be improved - cheaper fare's - faster trips and more choice of vessels to ride.

i doubt you can go cheaper, the routes are all subsidized, so you cant get cheaper, and the vessels are getting old, so costs tend to rise.
