I mentioned this before but the Sidney was retired because of unhealthy conditions in the engine room. My uncle, who is an environmental chemist, inspected the sidney's engine room, and took samples. What he found was very unhealthy for the engineers, and because of that, the decision was made to retire her. So my uncle is partly to blame for the Sidney's retirement. I wonder why they just didn't fix it

It was a re-occuring problem, so no matter what they did to try to fix it, the problems didn't go away.

duke point to get a coffee kiosk. as of april 2005 duke point will be the second bc ferries terminal to offer saltspring island roasting company. they will be running a kiosk selling their coffee and sandwiches 7 days a week starting in april. swartz bay already offers saltspring island roasting in the foot passenger building
