They're not bad. Now if you did a post for the Cumberland, my vote for her would awesome! I prefer the Cumberland design better than the Quinsam Quinsta or Skeena Queen. Not that I wouldent still go on them. I have been on the Quinsam, and like I said, she's not bad! Good for their runs. The lounges on each side though all you can see is side views you can get bow and stern views from those side lounges. Cumberland has really good views from the lounges. And her lounges are high from the car deck which is pretty cool!

I decided to put awesome because of their strange shapes, I would actually like a sister for the mill bay run when the malahat is is closed, also, do a run to pat bay when the malahat is open.
I actually rode the Quinsam on a bike trip, never been on the Quinitsa yet, I used to live in Nanaimo and we have friends in Brentwood Bay, so I know the Quinsam and the Mill bay very well, I would like the mill bay to do the run to MB from BB when the malahat is open, and when there is more traffic on the winter runs (simple) they run in tandem! if you understand!

Well Quinsam is very special to me! Barge with steering or not, I like the shape and the modern look of the 1980's.

Quinsam and Quinitsa. BOR-ING!! I do remember when the Quinitsa was first put into service on the Gabriola-Nanaimo run in 1977. She was a definite improvement over the Klitsa (lotta jokes about that name years ago), which served on that run during the late 60's-70's. I also remember the Albert J. Savoie doing Gabriola when Klitsa was being serviced at Nanaimo Shipyards. Then came the Quinsam in '81 or '82, I think. I remember going on her for the first time, and there were not too many cars on board. I remember standing on the car deck right at the stern and remarking to myself how big this thing was in comparison to Quinitsa and especially Klitsa.

Sorry, man, but it's true. Being a foot passenger in bad weather on one of these sucks, because you have to sit in one of the side passenger lounges, which have the worst views of any ship in the fleet. It's like sitting in a gutted single-wide mobile home. But, each to his own!

they are totally utilitarian. but heres the thing. would you and every other passenger be willing to pay extra to have a ship with a view?

No, but a design like the Capilano or Cumberland, perhaps a little smaller, is far superior. We gotta impress those tourists!

May be superior. but also costs more to operate. why build more than you have to. the ferry suits what it does, and thats all that it needs. its just a waiting area. thats all. i prefer to stand outside anyway.

maybe have the Quinsam for good sunny or overcast weather and have another ship like the Capilano or Bowen.

Yeah that is why I prefer the Cumberland, Capilano, Bowen Mayne Queens compared to the design of the Skeena Queen, Quinsta, Quinsam. Side lounges have the worst views as you can see ahead or behind you, just side views. In the video I have of the building of the Skeena Queen there was a design that was like the Cumberland which would of been cool if they had gone with that design.

How about a small snack bar in the upper level passenger area of the Quinsam?
I like the Quinsam because I have never seen any ship like it before, I like most of the fleet, I have only seen Skeena Queen, Quinsam, Quinitsa, Mill bay, (Harbourlynx) too, Mayne Queen, Queen of Cumberland, Queen of Capilano, Queen of Cowichan. Never seen Tenaka, Tachek, Klitsa, Kahloke, Kwuna, and the rest except the Spirits.

I don't know if they would need to put one up there, her vending machines are good enough. It's only a 20 minute ferry ride anyway. Also too if you have seen this site you might really like it, it's one of my favorites. www.pbase.com/kstapleton/quinsam&page=1
