Oh sorry - you DID say 8 PM.
Still, even in June, it will be dark by the time you get over the Big Hill. The run across the plateau will be a night drive, safe and easy (except for wandering deer, cattle and maybe moose); but it's worth seeing in daylight.

A PS: reading of your earlier adventure, I remember a few all-night road trips that were a lot of fun. Vancouver-Missoula, MT and back in a 3-day weekend (in a '66 VW Beetle) was one ... So, don't take the lectures too seriously. I admire your spirit of adventure -- go and have fun! Check www.hellobc.com/en-CA/RegionsCities/CaribooChilcotinCoast.htm for a complete accomodation list.

I wasent planning on getting off the ferry at 8pm and driving straight to Williams Lake. We will stay in Bella Coola that night then start out the following morning. Did you think I meant we would be driving that highway at night?, lol! I just booked it today. The Glen Lyon Inn in Port Hardy is all booked for the night of the 14th, darn it. That was a nice hotel!

I am looking forward to traveling on this ferry on this route in early July northbound non-stop to Bella Coola. This will replace my usual semi-annual Inside Passage trip home. Once at Bella Coola it will still take the best part of two days travel to get home.
I was on the Q of Chilliwack many moons ago [1993]. I don't remember much about it. People tell me its not fancy - more like 'funky'. One thing for sure is that it is slow, and won't be around for too much longer.

A late note-
Port Hardy's motels are rapacious s*o*b's, we found. With QPR and Chilliwack both leaving Bear Cove early in the AM, Port Hardy motel rates were 100-140 bucks on ferry nights.
Not much choice, 'cept sleeping in the car. Nicer rooms are half the price everywhere else in small-town BC. Grrr.

ya, no kidding, the Quaterdeck in which we are staying as the Glyn Lyon was full we are paying around $150.00 total. Kinda alot for a hotel room but I think we are gonna plan on arriving early in Port Hardy so we are not just showing up to sleep. Enjoy the room with a view for a bit. I also wanna be down at the waterfront to see the Wack come in around 8pm.

ok, I have decided we are doing Bella Coola to Williams Lake in a day as I would like to get down to Revelstoke sooner. If we leave Bella Coola and arrive in Williams Lake at like 8pm that's fine. Cause this is what we are doing from Revelstoke we are gonna drive down and take the Galena Bay ferry across then head down to Castlegar that night and spend two nights in Castlegar and the next day we will take a day trip from Castlegar up to Balfour and take the ferry across as foot passengers, then hang around at Kootenay Bay for an hour or two then take the other ship back to Balfour! This way I will get to do the Osprey again and also the MV Balfour! And we might even stop and see the Harrop Ferry too! I hope to get lots of photos! Then we will spend the last night in Kelowna! This is gonna be an awesome trip!
