.....when you can name off all of the Ferries, and know approximately when/where they were built

.....can tell the difference between sister ships from a distance, by looking for small features that one of the sisters would not have

I know I've conquered all 3 of those points unfortuneatly..

Personally I don't really know Chris's first 1 (I know route 1)
The second to I know quite well. On mine, I know most of the route numbers, and am collecting postcards. However I don't know the launch date of each ferry

OMG that's pretty scary. Not you, but three weeks ago we went to Seattle from Portland via Vashon simply because the subject came up that we had not seen the Rhody in a while. Then last night, we were looking for an excuse to go again so we could ride the Hiyu. (Well, my wife asked "What's a Hiyu?" Sacrilege!!) I guess I'm guilty as charged.

Oh, and:

- When you plan your weekends and holidays (and the odd business trip) in a way that has the most ferry crossings.

You know you are a Ferry Fanatic when you get the shakes when Herr Brinkman or Stapleton haven't posted new pics on the Coastal construction in a few days.

Or when you drive from downtown Vancouver through all the traffic to Tswwassen - so you can go through Active Pass and when you are going to drive back up the Island to Nanaimo anyways so you can do the circle route.

Or when you know the spot at the front of the Spirits, between the fire hose and where the meeting room juts out on an angle, that is sheltered from the wind and stays relatively dry when there is a light drizzle. ;D
