Can't believe it's already time to think about August. However, you now have 4 weeks or so to nominate photos for August's forum flagship banner. Since B.C. Day is in August, I thought this would be an opportunity to show the ferries operating in the setting of "Beautiful British Columbia". So next month could be any ferry in British Columbia sailing into a beautiful sunset, under snowy mountains, past a pod of whales... etc. The photo must show a ferry or part of a ferry (if taken from a ferry). However since this topic is open to a lot of "possibilities" there will be a limit of 2 entries per member. I'm anticipating lots of entries so we may need time for a run-off vote before a final vote. The deadline for now will be noon July 25th.
Remember, I want the photo to be judged on how well it displays the beauty of the province. If possible, write in small print the location and the name of the ferry pictured. I'm looking forward to some great photos.

Are we allowed to nominate watercolour paintings of full-scale models of ships that are placed on a full-scale relief-model of the Province ?
I just had to ask.....
;D ;D ;D

I had a feeling this pic was going to pop up. But is it eligible...? I feel that the second Pic looks better as the Cowichan is more centred...It also looks more clear.

Jim: I like the 1st picture of yours best. This is because the ferry is not centred on the shot. I like pictures best when the subject is not dead-centre. However for your shot, I would have thought it would be left-of-center, not right-of-center.... ;D
Re the background, I am curious: Is that Mt. Baker, and how unusual is it for it to look that prominent & clear? I'm used to seeing Baker off in the distance....but this looks so close. Am I the only one who thinks this to be an optical illusion?
(re the eligibility, that's John H's call....)

I'd say it's okay. Mt. Baker is often a prominent part of southern BC scenery. As long as it's taken from BC, then it qualifies.

Michael, That pic of the SoVI has got to be the most best image you've entered so far.

Michael, That pic of the SoVI has got to be the most best image you've entered so far. Yes, well I took that picture last December, and I've had little-no opportunity or time to showcase it, except for about a week as my signature. The reason being, I haven't realised (until recently) how to properly edit and upload my pictures to show them off. But other than that, all I can say is "thanks," and that I love all my adoring fans. ;D

This month is going to be a hard choice already. I love Coastal Skier's pic of Grenville Channel because that is one of my favourite parts of the Inside Passage. I also like Scotts pic of the Spirit of VI with the sunset because it is so unusual. Then of course either one of Wet Coast Kid's pics of the Cow with Mt. Baker in the background - they are so surreal they look like paintings.

Here are my 2 nominations. (Thanks to Graham for adding the script, as I'm too cheap to buy a full-version of a photoshop program). Here is the full-size banner link: [ftp]http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u314/tsawwassenterminal/Miscellaneous/Posts/MrHornsBannerAug07Version1A.jpg[/ftp] Here is the full-size banner link: [ftp]http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u314/tsawwassenterminal/Miscellaneous/Posts/MrHornsBannerAug07-Version2A.jpg[/ftp] (still waiting to get the photo of the Route-40 Chilliwack with a Sasquatch on the shore in the background.....)

Those are some rare pics from 2003. The transition year where the expo paint scheme was combined with the wave funnels.

These would be of the Queen of Saanich. Others can confirm. The Van has the deck 3 windows therefore it is none other than the Saanich. I'm going to leave this to the experts and not examine photos to notice the differences, but I'm a little surprised, as a fan of the Vs' Spaulding-design, that I haven't yet learned to tell the difference between the ' Saanich and the ' Esquimalt these days, other than, say, by seeing the drapes or not through the windows. And while I'm asking, what year, again, was the last time car-deck openings, number and level, etc., were changed on one of our three remaining Vs? thanks ahead of time.
