A news story about the Ferry Commissioner. (this is as good a place as any to post this story). from here: www.timescolonist.com/Commissioner+posting+extended/3226566/story.html------------ Regarding the replacement, this forum should nominate a replacement-nominee, from among our members. We will have a poll for this in late December, nominations will close Dec.25th. Forum voting criteria will focus on frequency of posts, kewlness of signature-pictures and on the ability to differentiate between a vee and a bee. or maybe not.

B.C.'s independent ferry commissioner will stay on the job six months longer than expected after government extended his term while it searches for a replacement.
Martin Crilly, who has served as B.C. Ferry Commissioner for seven years, will keep the position until Dec. 31, said Transportation Minister Shirley Bond. His term was set to expire June 30.
"We believe in order to make a smooth transition to another commissioner, we asked him ... to continue until December to allow for a transition to a new commissioner," said Bond.
"It's just a matter of trying to find the right person for a challenging job, and we want to make sure that it's done."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The challenge being, of course, to keep up the laudable record of consistency of Mr Crilly, who has rubber stamped every request BC Ferries has made over the last six or seven years.
And I'm not being rhetorical. The record is there on the BC Ferry Commission site.
I don't know how much taxpayers are forking out to keep this particular part of Mr Campbell's 'privatized' ferry sham going, but there is at least the stipend paid to Mr Crilly, and his assistant watchdog Mr. Sheldon Stoilen, who is the brother of BC Ferries director Wayne Stoilen. (Cozy, huh?) But I guess the cost of saying "Yes" is just part of what we need to pay for good ferries governance.

"You can request any record that B.C.Ferries has that would exist" said Bond. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It is hard to believe that there are any records left prior to April 2003. There was a mad dash to divorce themselves, (BCFS) from anything to do with the old (BCFC). I would bet the old shredders got a real workout for the first few months
